The Accountant will prepare the workpapers to support the LGIMA and LGC accounting process. Monitor and communicate funding requirements, prepare journal entries to record accounting activity, prepare monthly invoices to LGIM, prepare monthly bank account reconciliations and balance sheets. Assist auditors (UK, state, insurance) as requested. Interactively work with UK and Chicago counterparts to respond to their various information requests.

Responsibilities
    Monitor and balance the bi-weekly payroll interface for Banner, LGA, William Penn, LGIMA , LGC and (monthly) retirees. Resolve any issues. Follow up with Human Resources and/or software vendor as needed. Monitor payroll bank reconciliation outstanding items and work with Human Resources to obtain resolution. Prepare monthly reconciliations for all withholding accounts throughout the Epicor ledgers.
  • Interface with insurance auditor and coordinate the preparation of all audit requests
  • Prepare workpapers for monthly financial reporting process including bonus accrual, agent balance analysis, SERP, deferred compensation exhibit, Annuity Benefit details for actuarial, and parent company receivables.
  • Prepare quarterly statements to directors and deferred compensation participants. Prepare monthly/quarterly disbursements to directors and associated 1099 forms at year end.
  • Prepare monthly America's Charities workpapers and corresponding remittances for employee and employer liability.
  • Prepare audit request as assigned.
  • Prepare the complex reconciliations for banking and suspense accounts.
  • Support general accounting peak periods or problem areas as assigned
Qualifications

Education

BS/BA in accounting

Experience/Knowledge

2-4 years accounting experience in general accounting; financial reporting exposure preferred.

Solid understanding of general accounting principles

Skills

Self initiative and problem solving skills

Ability to handle confidential information

Ability to manage multiple priorities

Ability to work under pressure

Proficient user of Excel

Excellent communication skills (oral and written)

Highly organized and Detailed

What's in it for you?

Schedule is 7am to 3:30pm.

The expected hiring compensation range for this position is $65,000 - $89,375 annually. This role will be hybrid with 3 days per week in office.

The total compensation package for this position may include other elements, such as a sign-on bonus, long term incentives, and annual bonuses. This role is eligible to participate in the Legal & General America Annual Incentive Plan. The current target payment for the position is 8% of base salary, modified for corporate and individual performance. Bonuses are pro-rated based on start date. This role has 15 vacation days and 10 sick days that are accrued on a bi-weekly basis. Employees also have 9 paid holidays throughout the calendar year.
