The Senior Product Specialist, Insurance is part of the Insurance Product Management team at Capital Group (CG). The team is responsible for the development and execution of CG's insurance business strategy. The successful candidate will be responsible for the implementation of various business initiatives that support CG's broader insurance efforts, in partnership with the leadership team and cross functional partners within CG.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Support the ongoing development and execution of CG's insurance product segment strategy.
    • Develop analytics and insights that help guide decision for the CG insurance segment that take into consideration CG priorities and value proposition.
    • Contribute to the development of well-defined business cases, considering financial and customer impacts.
    • Assist management in the day-to-day leadership of the segment, including development and maintenance of management reporting.
  • Compile and apply market and competitive intelligence to drive segment insights.
  • Develop insurance specific competitive assessments that drive insights on market trends.
  • Summarize competitive advantage into digestible insights for use in go-to-market activities.
  • Leverage industry research to develop and deliver compelling reports that drive decision making.
  • Provide subject matter expertise in go-to-market efforts.
  • Partner insurance client relationship team to deliver compelling opportunity assessments that maximize CG's "shelf space" with a given insurer.
  • Assimilate voice of customer and voice of business feedback.
  • Provide industry level expertise at relevant client and industry events.
  • Participates in the development of CG insurance marketing content, including the digital marketing collateral, and digital tools on our website.
  • Ensures product information is accurately represented through all collateral, including training documents, literature, digital properties, etc.

  • You have 5-10 years of insurance industry experience in a product or solutions-oriented role.
  • You have a detailed understanding of the U.S. annuity and life insurance marketplace.
  • You have demonstrated ability in recommending and communicating solutions on complex and broad matters.
  • You have demonstrated excellent technical and analytical skills in areas around annuity and insurance product construction, pricing, and service/distribution model.
  • You have demonstrated strong written and oral communication skills with a diverse group of associates and business leaders.
  • You have demonstrated the ability to collaborate and develop/maintain working relationships inside an organization to enable effective completion of business objectives.
  • You have demonstrated effectiveness in facilitating discussions on a broad range of topics to help drive decision making.
  • You are comfortable traveling up to 10% of the time.


Southern California Base Salary Range: $116,974-$187,158

New York Base Salary Range: $123,999-$198,398

In addition to a highly competitive base salary, per plan guidelines, restrictions and vesting requirements, you also will be eligible for an individual annual performance bonus, plus Capital's annual profitability bonus plus a retirement plan where Capital contributes 15% of your eligible earnings.
