About This Role:

The Kansas State Veterinary Diagnostic Laboratory and Department of Diagnostic Medicine/Pathobiology, College of Veterinary Medicine, Kansas State University seeks an enthusiastic clinical pathologist, who is a collaborative team player at the assistant, associate, or full professor level.

The KSVDL is a full-service, AAVLD-accredited laboratory, offering a complete range of diagnostic services for all species. The DMP is comprised of faculty with expertise in pathology, virology, immunology, infectious disease, epidemiology, toxicology, and parasitology. All faculty, including this position, contribute to training of veterinary students, graduate students, and post-doctoral trainees, interns and residents. The candidate will join a pathology team of clinical and anatomic pathologists, technologists, and interns. The candidate will be a co-leader in building our clinical pathology residency program and serve as a resource to medical technologists in the state-of-the-art KSVDL clinical pathology lab. All percentages are negotiable depending on the candidate's career aspirations. This position usually carries an appointment of 65-80% diagnostic service, including all routine services provided by the clinical pathology lab, such as interpretation of cytology, hematology, chemistry, and urine samples, and consultation with clinicians, house officers, and veterinary students. The remaining appointment is divided between teaching (continuing education, outreach, mentoring of residents and interns, and instruction of senior veterinary students) and other scholarly activities. Opportunities exist for collaborative and clinical investigative research. The chosen candidate is expected to follow the KSVDL quality management system documents and processes and the AAVLD Standard. What You'll Need to Succeed:

Minimum Qualifications:



  • Degree in veterinary medicine (DVM, VMD, or equivalent)
  • Board certification or board-eligibility in the American College of Veterinary Pathologists (ACVP) or the European College of Veterinary Pathologists (ECVP)

  • The successful candidate will possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills, evidence of effective teamwork, and a commitment to fostering a diverse and inclusive academic community
  • The chosen candidate for the position will be required to pursue Kansas veterinary licensure through the Kansas Board of Veterinary Examiners
  • The candidate selected for this position must be able to meet eligibility requirements to work in the United States at the time of appointment and continue working legally for the proposed term of employment.
