Position description

Position: The Preuss School K-12 Teacher - Middle School Social Science.

The Preuss School at UC San Diego (http://preuss.ucsd.edu/) is a charter middle and high school dedicated to providing a rigorous college prep education for low-income scholars who will become the first in their families to graduate from college. As a department within UC San Diego Academic Affairs, The Preuss School also serves as a model school to study and develop the best practices in preparation of scholars of diverse and under represented backgrounds to access higher education.

Under the supervision of the Principal, The Preuss School teachers are focused on the attainment of the California Standards for the teaching profession:

a. Engaging/supporting all students in learning;

b. Creating/maintaining an effective environment;

c. Understanding/organizing subject matter;

d. Planning instruction;

e. Designing learning experiences;

f. Assessing student learning;

g. Developing as professional.

Qualifications
Basic qualifications (required at time of application)

  • Required - Bachelor's degree in Ethnic Studies, History, International Studies, Political Science, or Social Science.
  • Current California Teaching Credential (CTC) - Single Subject Social Science Credential, or the same teaching credential from states that are members of the NASDTEC Interstate Reciprocity Agreements and have signed a reciprocity agreement with California, or a letter confirming that CTC would be obtained by August 1, 2024.
  • English Learner Authorization (ELA/ELAS/CLAD/BCLAD equivalent) or California Teaching Credential - Clear Cross-cultural, Language and Academic Development (CLAD) Certificate or equivalent authorization or equivalent from out-of-state

    English Learner Authorization (ELA/ELAS/CLAD/BCLAD equivalent) or California Teaching Credential - Clear Cross-cultural, Language and Academic Development (CLAD) Certificate or equivalent authorization or equivalent from out-of-state.

    (30-day Emergency Substitute Teaching Credential does not qualify)
