Expected annual base salary range: $62,200 to $81,000

GPS level: P1

JOB SUMMARY: A Biostatistician I is responsible for a range of statistical activities. A Biostatistician I, working under the direct supervision of a more experienced statistician, performs assigned tasks related both to statistical analyses and statistical programming.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty and responsibility satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills, and/or ability required. Responsibilities include a variety of statistical and programming activities, for instance:

  • Analyzing data, including writing code using SAS or other statistical programs.
  • Preparing graphs, tables, and listings with in-house macros when appropriate.
  • Creating and auditing analysis programs.
  • Performing biostatistical analyses under the supervision of more senior staff.
  • Programming analysis datasets with guidance.
  • Remaining abreast of current advances in biostatistics relevant to DMC work.
  • Other duties as assigned by supervisor. These may, on occasion, be unrelated to the position described here.

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS: M.S. or equivalent degree in statistics, or related field

QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE:

  • Posses attention to detail, accuracy, initiative, and excellent communication skills.
  • Able to juggle several complex tasks simultaneously.

Work activities involve a frequent need to concentrate on a variety of sensory inputs for moderate to lengthy durations at a time requiring diligence and attention to interpret effectively. There will be a need to attend to single or simultaneous tasks where accuracy of details is important. The need for detailed and precise work is high.
