Compensation: $120,000 - $130,000 annually

Regular, Full-Time, Exempt

Location: Manhattan, KS (onsite)

Supporting College: College of Veterinary Medicine

What does success look like in this position?

  • Motivated leader who can balance raising money and leading a team of fundraisers, understanding the importance of both.
  • Ability to meet pre-established goals in face-to-face visits, dollars raised, and proposals delivered.
  • Comfortable presenting materials and not afraid to make the ask at $50k+

A day in the life of a Senior Director of Development could be:

In collaboration with university partners and foundation colleagues, discuss major donor prospects, strategy, and solicitations. Make qualification calls/visits, and in some cases cultivate, solicit, provide recognition, and steward appropriately major gifts for the College of Veterinary Medicine, with an emphasis on gifts of $50,000+. Manage staff, including recruitment, retention, performance management, coaching and development. Utilize KSUF resources to facilitate professional development for the team and grow the talent pipeline.

Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree and 5+ years professional transferrable experience in positions that were metrics focused required measurable output and relationship building
  • Experience managing teams of more than 1 direct report in a metrics driven environments. Proven ability and desire to coach others in fundraising, relationship management and demonstrated consistent peer-to-peer leadership.
  • Experience calling, conducting face-to-face appointments, managing relationships, creating and presenting proposals, and other fundamental elements of client/donor relationship or sales-related activities
  • Proven ability to communicate effectively and persuasively with a diverse client base, with an emphasis on engaged listening, and success working in a team setting
  • A valid motor vehicle operator's license with an acceptable driving record

What we want:

  • 5+ years of fundraising experience with an emphasis on building a portfolio of donors or clients and closing gifts or completing a sales cycle
  • Ability to prioritize and organize/follow through on complex projects and plans to deliver results, while meeting deadlines
  • Solid understanding of development techniques and systems based on past performance

Travel:

  • Significant travel required
