The Material Engineer II provides expertise on material issues used in manufacturing and production processes. Assists in the development of materials specifically designed to endure and perform in unique environments for new and existing products to customer specifications. Plans for the most cost-effective utilization of materials. Reviews drawings and specification to determine the appropriate materials needed to achieve successful completion of initiatives. Performs a variety of tasks. Works under general supervision; typically reports to a manager. The Material Engineer II should have knowledge in elastomer-based materials and processes and/or knowledge in advanced composite materials and processes, in addition to effective written and verbal communication skills. Strong skill sets in problem solving and root cause investigations.

This position requires analysis, interpretation or deduction from facts, data, and other available information to make informed decisions. Sound theoretical knowledge and some practical experience of applying engineering principles. Ability to author technical reports and process specifications. The primary duties involve material selection to customer and/or product specifications. Development of materials and/or processes for implementation into manufacturing with minimal oversight, while working to ensure that products comply with national and international legal quality standards.

Education Level: Bachelor's degree in chemistry, Material Engineering, or Material Science with a minimum of 3 to 5 years of relevant experience.
