Under general direction of the Coding manager, and according to established procedures, this position assigns ICD and CPT codes for patients receiving services at UCSD Health System. Assigns all applicable APCs for patient accounts and abstracts all coded data into abstracting information system. Responsible for data entry into electronic databases for use in the assessing quality of patient care, outcome analysis, and financial management.

• Credential by A.H.I.M.A. with either R.H.I.A., R.H.I.T. or C.C.S.

• Must have proven coding knowledge with at least three (3) years experience with observation coding and charging in acute care setting with R.H.I.A., R.H.I.T. or C.C.S.

• Proficient skill with computers and computer systems.

• Coding experience with Observation coding and charging.

• Three to five (3 - 5) years coding experience with proven knowledge of observation coding and charging records with RHIT/RHIA/CCS credential.

• Epic & 3M 360 CAC.

• Must be able to work various hours and locations based on business needs.

• Employment is subject to a criminal background check and pre-employment physical.
