DESCRIPTION

The 6th Floor is a 45 bed acute care Progressive Care Unit at UC San Diego Health's Hillcrest Campus located near downtown San Diego. The unit provides care for a population of high acuity adult medical-surgical patients, oncology and infectious disease.

Autonomous nursing care is the ability of a nurse to assess and provide nursing actions as appropriate for patient care populations based on competence, professional expertise, and knowledge. The nurse is expected to practice autonomously consistent with ANA Standards of Practice and Professional Performance. Independent judgment is expected to be exercised within the context of interdisciplinary and multidisciplinary approaches to patient care.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • Must be a graduate from an accredited school of Nursing.

  • RN License issued by the State of California.

  • BART or BLS and ACLS certifications at time of hire with commitment to get UCSD ART within six (6) months of hire date.

  • A minimum of one (1) year of acute care RN experience at the Progressive Care Unit (PCU) level or higher.

  • Must demonstrate strong critical thinking, compassion, de-escalation, and problem-solving skills to manage multiple levels of information and responsibilities.

  • Ability to demonstrate individualized care to vulnerable populations.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • BSN.

  • Med-Surg Certification.

  • Chemotherapy Certification.

  • Mental Health or Psych RN experience.

SPECIAL CONDITIONS
  • Must be able to work various hours and locations based on business needs.

  • Employment is subject to a criminal background check and pre-employment physical.

  • Per diem shift requirement is an average of 1 shift per week per 4-week schedule. Must be available 1 weekend shift per 4-week schedule and a minimum of 1 holiday. This is subject to change based on individual department needs.

Pay Transparency Act

Annual Full Pay Range: $170,485 - $170,485 (will be prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%)

Hourly Equivalent: $81.65 - $81.65

Factors in determining the appropriate compensation for a role include experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. The Hiring Pay Scale referenced in the job posting is the budgeted salary or hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position. The Annual Full Pay Range may be broader than what the University anticipates to pay for this position, based on internal equity, budget, and collective bargaining agreements (when applicable).
