  • The Perinatal Sonographer workload and workspace have been carefully designed to reduce the risk of work related injuries.
  • Scanning 6-8 patients per day on average using premium GE Voluson ultrasound systems at all sites.
  • Large, ergonomically designed ultrasound suites and workstations.

As a Perinatal Sonographer, you will be responsible for performing low and high risk perinatal obstetric (OB) ultrasound examinations in accordance with established departmental guidelines and protocols. The Perinatal Sonographer should have special interest and expertise in prenatal diagnosis and OB ultrasound with the ability to recognize normal and pathological conditions and apply additional modalities as indicated (i.e. Doppler, 3D/4D).Additionally, the Perinatal Sonographer will obtain relevant history via EMR, image according to protocol, review cases with the care team, and generate preliminary reports using structured reporting software. Familiarity in recognizing and troubleshooting various imaging IT issues is required. You may also be required to perform other duties, as assigned.

Depending on experience of the selected candidate, this position will be hired as a Sr. Ultrasound Tech or a Principal Ultrasound Tech.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • Graduate of a CAAHEP accredited Diagnostic Medical Sonography program.

  • Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (RDMS) in OB/GYN.

  • BART or BLS at time of hire with commitment to get BART within six (6) months of hire date.

  • Commitment to continued education in MFM ultrasound by obtaining at least 15 CMEs (20CMEs for Principal level)every 36 months in detailed OB ultrasound and/or fetal echocardiography.

  • Recent, relevant clinical experience in an OB or MFM (fetal) ultrasound setting.

  • Experience performing nuchal translucency exams and/or 12-14 week detailed anatomy scans per AIUM guidelines.

  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.

  • Basic computer skills.

  • Demonstrate knowledge of sonographic assessment of maternal-fetal conditions including athorough understanding of fetal anatomy, physiology, anomalies, and high risk maternal factors.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • RDMS or RDCS in Fetal Echocardiography (FE).

  • Nuchal Translucency Quality Review (NTQR) Certification.

  • Inpatient OB experience

  • Two to three (2 - 3) years OB ultrasound experience in an MFM setting.

SPECIAL CONDITIONS
  • Must be able to work at various locations in the San Diego region based on business needs, including Sorrento Valley, Hillcrest, and Encinitas.
  • Shifts are eight (8) hours with various start times, typically 715AM-345PM, 730AM-400PM, 745AM-415PM, or 800AM-430PM
  • No call, no weekends, no nights, and no holidays.
  • Employment is subject to a criminal background check and pre-employment physical.

Pay Transparency Act

Annual Full Pay Range: $130,229 - $161,966 (will be prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%)

Hourly Equivalent: $62.37 - $77.57

Factors in determining the appropriate compensation for a role include experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. The Hiring Pay Scale referenced in the job posting is the budgeted salary or hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position. The Annual Full Pay Range may be broader than what the University anticipates to pay for this position, based on internal equity, budget, and collective bargaining agreements (when applicable).
