We are currently seeking a dedicated and experienced Inpatient Colorectal and Minimally Invasive Surgery Provider to join our esteemed team.

Position Overview:

As an Float Surgery Provider at Johns Hopkins Hospital, you will play a vital role in providing comprehensive patient care in both inpatient and occasional outpatient settings. Collaborating closely with our team of surgeons and healthcare professionals, you will be responsible for conducting a wide range of patient care functions. These include rounding, writing and interpreting orders, writing daily progress notes, managing patient care plans, patient education, discharge planning, consults, office work, patient calls and paperwork, and clinic support.

Key Responsibilities:




  • Conduct thorough patient assessments, including medical history reviews, physical examinations, and diagnostic evaluations.
  • Collaborate with attending surgeons to develop and implement evidence-based treatment plans for patients undergoing colorectal and minimally invasive surgeries.
  • Perform inpatient rounds, provide post-operative care, and manage patients' medical needs in the acute care setting.
  • Write and interpret orders, document daily progress notes, and maintain accurate and up-to-date medical records.
  • Provide patient education on surgical procedures, post-operative care instructions, and disease management strategies.
  • Coordinate discharge planning and facilitate smooth transitions of care for patients moving from inpatient to outpatient settings.
  • Conduct outpatient clinic visits, evaluate patients' progress, and address any concerns or complications related to their surgical treatment.
  • Respond to patient calls and inquiries, address medication refills, and coordinate follow-up care as needed.
  • Provide clinical support to other members of the healthcare team, including residents, nurses, and support staff.



Qualifications:




  • Master's degree in Nursing or Physician Assistant from an accredited program.
  • Current certification as an Nurse Practitioner (NP) or Physician Assistant (PA).
  • Active Maryland state licensure as a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant and eligibility for prescriptive authority.
  • Minimum of 1 year of clinical experience in acute care, preferably in colorectal and minimally invasive surgery.
  • Strong clinical assessment and critical thinking skills, with the ability to make independent and collaborative decisions in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a patient-centered approach to care.
  • Commitment to continuous learning and professional development in the field of colorectal and minimally invasive surgery.
