Staff API Engineer

3Play Media is a growing, profitable technology company revolutionizing how people consume online media. We are looking for an experienced developer who has an avid interest in backend development to join our Globalization team along our new AI Dubbing offering. This role is foundational-we want someone who cares deeply about API design, efficient processing workflows, and maintainable integrations to work closely with us while we break new ground. You'd be a great fit if you feel connected to our team mission as someone who cares about the quality of translations, localization, and voice synthesis. We keep up with the advances in AI models to ensure our quality remains best-in-class and to reduce manual effort in reviews. We'd work together to ensure content is truly accessible to those across the world at improved cost.

Your specific responsibilities would include:

• Creating internal APIs for our dubbing workflows to support both:




• Our editor UIs, pairing closely with our front-end experts
• Our machine learning team with efficient data ingest




• Implementing and documenting external RESTful APIs to support customer integrations
• Collaborating and integrating across APIs to ingest assets from our partners and vendors
• Iterating on our asset workflows to improve file processing, video mixing, and QA efficiency.

• 5+ years of back-end web development; preferably a combination of Ruby on Rails and NodeJS (we use Remix)
• 5+ years of experience with relational databases such as Postgres or MySQL
• Knowledge and familiarity with tradeoffs in various API approaches and tools (e.g. REST, OpenAPI, GraphQL, grpc, protobufs, etc)
• Experience with Docker and containerizing Ruby / Node apps
• Familiarity using cloud infrastructure services, preferably on AWS (such as S3, Lambda, Elasticache, etc)
• Reasonable proficiency in bash / shell scripting
• Experience setting up metrics, dashboards, and application traces on monitoring platforms such as Datadog.
• Empathy and communication skills-you'll work closely with product and operations teams to align on requirements and assist in planning them into direct, actionable work.

• You are multilingual!
• You have experience with front-end tooling, particularly around codegen, schemas, and TypeScript
• You have experience with Kubernetes or Terraform
