PURPOSE

Directs and coordinates activities of wholesaler's distribution warehouse.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES



  • Reviews bills of lading for incoming merchandise and customer orders in order to plan work activities.
  • Assigns workers to specific duties, such as verifying amounts of and storing incoming merchandise, and assembling customer orders for delivery.
  • Establishes operational procedures for verification of incoming and outgoing shipments, handling and disposition of merchandise, and maintenance of warehouse inventory.
  • Coordinates activities of distribution warehouse with activities of other departments such as sales, record control, and purchasing to ensure availability of merchandise.
  • Directs reclamation of damaged merchandise.
  • Inspects products to verify conformance to specifications and directs setup and adjustment of machines.
  • Interprets specifications, and job orders to workers, and assigns duties.
  • Establishes or adjusts work procedures to meet production schedules.
  • Recommends measures to improve distribution methods, equipment performance, and quality of product.
  • Suggests changes in working conditions and use of equipment to increase efficiency of department and work crew.
  • Analyzes and resolves work problems, or assists workers in solving work problems; initiates or suggests plans to motivate workers to achieve work goals.
  • Other duties may be assigned.


SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

Supervises assigned employees including staff selection and training; planning, assigning and directing work; conducting performance reviews; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems. Provide leadership and guidance to coach, motivate, and lead team members to their optimum performance levels and career development.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.



  • High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED),
  • One to two years related experience and/or training;
  • Or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Prior supervisory experience preferred.
  • Valid driver's license with driving record acceptable under company guidelines; Commercial Driver's License preferred.
  • Previous experience with building products.
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred.

  • Language Skills - Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
  • Mathematical Skills - Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
  • Reasoning Ability - Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form

  • Will frequently be required to lift up to 50 pounds, and occasionally lift up to 100 pounds.
  • Routinely exposed to vibration and outdoor weather conditions; is required to work in high, precarious places; and work near moving mechanical parts.
  • The employee is exposed to loud noises from a warehouse environment.
