Huntsman is seeking a Senior Production Engineer supporting the Performance Products Division located in Freeport, Texas. This position will report to the Operations Manager.

Job Scope

As the Production Engineer, you have the responsibility for technical monitoring of units and products assigned to ensure they are operated and produced in accordance with established procedures and within acceptable limits. The Production Engineer performs general process engineering and project engineering duties and assists in any plant operational areas and performance troubleshooting as required.

As the Senior Production Engineer you will:

• Provide subject matter expertise for all processes and products in your assigned area of responsibility.
• Provides technical advice to operations, management, process improvement teams and other plant groups as necessary.
• Monitor daily unit operations to ensure performance within acceptable boundaries producing products that meet quality specifications at peak efficiency with minimal waste.
• Leads the team when troubleshooting quality, process upsets or equipment failures.
• Conducts experiments to test new operational modes, support new product start-ups and other improvement activities.
• Participates in Process Hazard Analysis studies and incident investigations for your area of responsibility or as assigned.
• Perform economic studies, mass and energy balances, environmental release quantities and other process engineering calculations as needed to support the facility.
• Responsible for leading Root Cause Analysis and driving corrective actions to completion before they become overdue.
• Responsible for documenting process changes by using the Huntsman tools for Management of Change.
• Responsible for updating operating discipline and operating procedures to clarify or improve our documentation.
• Support the development of production plans to deliver business objectives including assessing plant operating parameters and recommending operating targets.
• Create planning, inventory and month-end reports as assigned.
• Participate in Month-End financial close activities.
• Work collaboratively with team members with different backgrounds and perspectives.
• Assists other employees in accomplishments of Huntsman company goals. Follows instructions and performs other duties as may be assigned by supervisor.
• Participates in Environmental, Health, Safety, and Process Safety Management initiatives as set forth by the company.
• Participates in and completes company-required training programs.
• Essential functions require presence in the workplace on a regular basis and an ability to work extended hours if needed. The ability to work extended hours will occasionally be needed to ensure required staffing capacity to meet daily production objectives.
• Provides engineering support during Plant Turnarounds, Pit Stops or unplanned events which may require working extended hours.

Required Qualifications:

You must possess ALL the below minimum qualifications to be initially considered for this position. Preferred qualifications are in addition to the minimum requirements and are considered a plus factor in identifying top candidates.

The candidate must have an unrestricted right to work for Huntsman in the United States.

Minimum Qualifications:

• BS degree in Chemical or Mechanical Engineering from an accredited university.
• 3-5+ years of previous production experience.
• Proven history of driving change in a manufacturing operations environment.

Skills and Knowledge

• Detailed knowledge of the Freeport Ethylene Amines Production Facility.
• Must pass either the Train 1 or Train 2 Qualification process.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Root Cause Analysis certification is desirable for the incumbent.
• 6-sigma certification.
