Job Summary

The Logistics Support Associate is responsible for organizing and handling material (pulling and kitting of substations and transmission jobs), operation and maintenance of special handling equipment (to include crane, 55ft. boom telehandler, Conex tractor trailer). This position works directly with customers in fabrication of Conex units (shelving, and other equipment as required). The Logistics Support Associate directs and works with the assigned Material Handler through the job preparation of the assigned container, including coordination of post job site clean-up, accounting for unused materials. The position oversees scheduling and site coordination with contractors and utility linemen (in conjunction with assigned Strategic Accounts Coordinator).

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Load, unload, and move materials within or near work site.
  • Move materials from storage or work sites to designated area per Sales Ticket.
  • Assist customers with shipping discrepancies and defective materials on job-related orders.
  • Acquire, use and continuously develop personal technical knowledge of general and specialty merchandise items to assist customers and other company personnel.
  • Package merchandise for shipment by common carrier, flatbed or internal trucks, trailers or shipping containers.
  • Attach identifying tag or labels to materials or marks information on cases, bales, or other containers.
  • Fabricate and install racks and shelving as required.
  • Handle difficulties with customers and works directly to resolve issues related to fabrication, site preparation etc.
  • Operate material handling equipment such as forklifts, skid-steer, shooting-booms pallet jacks, hand trucks or dollies to move stock or reorganize storage.
  • May serve as back-up driver and deliver items as needed.
  • Be courteous in all contact with company customers.
  • Assist in keeping all work areas clean.

Minimum Qualifications

  • CDL-A License.
  • Knowledge of safety practices.
  • Proficiency in operating computer software programs and ERPs (for example, Eclipse, Solar, etc.).
  • Ability to lift heavy packages and objects.
  • Experience operating forklift or other materials handling equipment.
  • Proficient in operating large equipment and vehicles in tight and congested areas.
  • Effective communication skills.
  • Customer focused and team oriented.
  • Frequently required to stand.
  • Must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Two to three years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • High School diploma or equivalent preferred.
