Job Summary:

As an entry-level pipelayer, you will work under the supervision of a foreman and are expected to learn on the job, acquiring knowledge of pipe materials, trenching techniques, and the use of various tools and equipment.

Main Responsibilities:

* Embrace the Company's safety culture, actively support all safety initiatives, and adhere to defined accountabilities implemented by the Safety Steering and Continuous Improvement teams
* Support, promote, and practice the Company core values, vision, and mission; follow code of ethics, workplace conduct, safety, and other established policies
* Assist with the installation and repair of underground pipelines, such as water, sewer, or storm sewer.
* Prepare pipe materials and set pipes into position.
* Engage in multiple forms of physical labor necessary for completion of assigned projects, including work in trenches and similar environments
* Assist in connecting pipes using methods like connection fittings and pipe as guided by more experienced workers
* Assist with locating and ensuring damage to existing underground utilities is avoided during construction
* Learn how to read and interpret grading instruments (i.e., rulers, grade rods, carpenter levels, lasers, etc.)
* Safely operate vehicles, tools and equipment, including, but not limited to on-road vehicles, jack-hammers, air compressors, skid plate tampers, shovels, rakes, brooms, and other hand tools
* Assist with minor equipment maintenance and cleaning of construction equipment
* Direct movement of traffic through site, using, signs, hands and flag signals
* Maintain clean and organized working areas
* Work closely with other skilled laborers and craft workers to complete projects
* Assist with general labor tasks related to the construction site, such as cleaning work areas, organizing equipment, or transporting materials
* Other duties as assigned

Education:

* High school diploma or equivalent preferred
* Valid drivers' license with ability to maintain a clean driving history preferred

Physical Requirements:

* Wears and maintains personal protective equipment (PPE) as required by Company safety guidelines
* Regularly required to lift and /or move up to 50 pounds with or without assistance
* Regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel
* Regularly required to communicate (talk and hear)
* Frequently required to stand; walk; sit; reach with hands and arms and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl
* Standing/working on feet for long periods, and walking across uneven terrain
* Frequent exposure to loud noise
* Regularly exposed to all outdoor weather conditions, dust, and airborne particles
* Regularly exposed to fuel, oil, and other chemicals
* Required to work varying hours, including nights/weekends, and overnight travel may be required
