Position Title: Student Employee, Motorist Assist UnitJob Description: Working within the daily operations of the police department, the Motorist Assist Unit will respond to and handle vehicle lockouts and vehicle jump starts for the community. The MAU is also responsible for the general cleaning of all department vehicles. The MAU will handle miscellaneous errands for the police department and will assist with coverage at the information booths and special events as needed.POSITION TITLE: Student Employee, Motorist Assist Unit - Campus Police STATUS: Part time DEPARTMENT: Campus Police DIVISION: Administrative Services REPORTS TO: Director, Campus Safety & Police Chief and Administrative Assistant, Campus Police CLASSIFICATION: Non-exempt MINIMIUM PAY RATE: $14.00 per hour (Position is FWS Eligible) POSITION SUMMARY The campus police motorist assist unit employee supports various safety and security functions in the police department with a high level of discretion, professionalism, and customer service skills. ESSENTIALJOBDUTIESANDKEYRESPONSIBILITIES 1. Respond to and aid with vehicle lockouts and jump starts. 2. Provide customer service to patrons at information booths. 3. Maintain cleanliness of department vehicles. 4. Perform door openings and closings. 5. Log lost and found property. 6. Identify safety hazards and notify appropriate personnel. 7. Assist with events, traffic control, and parking regulations. 8. Assist department members with various projects on an "as needed" basis. 9. Professionally interact with all department members, community members and external agencies MINIMUMQUALIFICATIONS 1. Current JJC student enrolled in 6 credit hours with 2.0 GPA or above. 2. Basic proficiency with Microsoft Office. 3. Attention to detail. 4. Excellent problem-solving skills. 5. Professional appearance. 6. Ability to follow the Chain of Command. 7. Able to work up to 20 hours a week. 8. Ability to establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with other members of the college and community, displaying cultural competence as well as emotional intelligence. WORKING CONDITIONS: *Must be able to walk stairs and conduct prolonged foot patrols PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS 1. English and Spanish verbal and written communication proficiency. Scheduled Weekly Hours: This is a student employee position that works around your class schedule. May work up to 20 hours per week during the fall and spring semesters. During summer and holiday breaks (Winter/Spring), may work up to 28 hours per week with supervisor approval. Full Time/Part Time: Part timeUnion (If Applicable): Scheduled Hours: 20 |
