Job Summary

A CRT licensed Mammography Technologist performing screening and diagnostic breast imaging and procedures. The Technologist produces ACR quality images in both diagnostic and screening exams. This technologist is able to interact with clinicians and other departments to coordinate patient care. The Technologist ensures clinical data is correct and appropriate in the Radiology Information System (RIS) and PACS systems. The technologist must participate in performance improvement activities in the department. Maintains appropriate quality control records and participates in routine equipment testing and maintenance. Additionally, the Mammography Technologist must be willing to train and interact with students and new hires when necessary.

The final salary and offer components are subject to additional approvals based on UC policy.

Please note: The compensation ranges listed online for roles not covered by a bargaining unit agreement are very wide, however a job offer will typically fall in the range of 80% - 120% of the established mid-point. An offer will take into consideration the experience of the final candidate AND the current salary level of individuals working at UCSF in a similar role.

For roles covered by a bargaining unit agreement, there will be specific rules about where a new hire would be placed on the range.

Department Description

The Radiology Department is a specialty medical service that offers a wide range of imaging techniques to diagnose and treat a broad range of medical conditions.

At UCSF Medical Center, we offer the full spectrum of techniques, using the most advanced equipment. Combined with Bone Densitometry, CT, Interventional, Mammography, MRI, Nuclear Medicine, PET, Ultrasound, and X-ray. We perform more than 500,000 procedures annually. In fact, a number of radiology advancements and applications were developed here.

Required Qualifications


  • CRT (M) Mammography Certification
  • CRT (R) Radiologic Technologist Certification
  • BLS Basic Life Support (CPR) Certification
  • Requires proof of mammography - specific training of at least 40 documented hours, if certified after April 27, 1999.
  • Requires proof of having performed at least 200 mammography exams in the last 24 months (rolling 24-month calendar)
  • Requires certificates of at least 15 CEUs in Mammography in the last 36-month period (rolling 36 month calendar).
  • Requires proof of MQSA approved 8 hours each of Digital and 3D Tomosynthesis training.
  • Proof of initial 25 supervised mammograms
  • Graduate of a JCERT accredited radiology technology training program.
  • Flexibility in scheduling, with the ability to rotate shifts and coverage for weekends and holidays.
  • Must be willing to assist at any of the UCSF Medical Center Locations.
  • Minimum of (three) 3 years of Mammography experience
  • Ability to perform job duties in a reliable, responsible and timely fashion.
  • Ability to work effectively and efficiently under any workload and/or patient volume.
  • Ability to be respectful of everyone, including those of different backgrounds, beliefs and gender
  • Knowledge of Radiology Information System and related downtime procedure, to include the proper scheduling and completion of patient exams.
  • Knowledge of the Medical Centers' current Electronic Health record and ordering systems.
  • Knowledge of the related Breast Imaging systems and selects the correct patient and exam from worklists.
  • Knowledge of the Incident Reporting System
  • Leadership skills.
  • Ability to prioritize and complete tasks, needing little or no supervision.

Preferred Qualifications


  • ARRT (R) (M)
  • Prefer breast ultrasound experience
  • CRT Fluoroscopy License

License/Certification
