Department Information
The Woodruff School graduates high caliber mechanical engineers for a demanding profession. Mechanical engineers are the foundation of todays technological world. To do so, we provide enhanced facilities and laboratories to create the best learning environment and we attract outstanding faculty and students. In this period of rapid technological change, the Woodruff School produces mechanical engineers who are vital to our future.

With approximately 3,000 students, 100 faculty members, and 80 staff members, the Woodruff School is one of the largest mechanical engineering programs in the country. We are consistently ranked as one of the top 10 mechanical engineering programs in the U.S. at both the graduate and undergraduate levels and continuously innovate to keep our school at the forefront of engineering education. Our size and resources allow us to offer a diversity of educational and research opportunities that enable us to produce highly sought after engineering professionals.

Job Summary

Manage financial affairs of a college, school or within a major research unit. Organizational environment within which the job functions will generally be characterized as moderate to extensive in terms of scope. Responsibilities typically include management of budgets, financial controls and reporting and procurement. Responsible for setting employee goals, assessing employee performance, providing feedback, and making pay recommendations. This position will interact on a consistent basis with: unit general and/or senior financial management, faculty and staff; Institute-wide financial management. This position typically will advise and counsel: unit management. This position will supervise: assigned financial staff.

Responsibilities

Job Duty 1 -
Develop and administer unit financial operating policies and procedures consistent with Institute policy.

Job Duty 2 -
Oversee and coordinate the preparation and administration of unit budgets including amendments.

Job Duty 3 -
Manage the recording of financial transactions and generation of financial related reports on both scheduled and ad hoc basis.

Job Duty 4 -
Manage the maintenance of unit financial related files and records

Job Duty 5 -
Monitor and maintain records of unit purchases.

Job Duty 6 -
Supervise, train and develop unit financial staff

Job Duty 7 -
Advise unit management regarding financial issues.

Job Duty 8 -
Perform other duties as assigned

Required Qualifications

Educational Requirements
Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Business, Finance or related field or equivalent combination of education and experience

Required Experience
Five to six years of job related experience

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

SKILLS
This job requires advanced knowledge of accounting principles and practices as applied within a university environment. This includes skills in the application of accounting staff supervision, communications and problem solving. Use of office and finance/accounting related computer applications and systems is required.

Salary range: $61,759.00 - $ 83,991.00
