Job Summary |
College of Liberal Arts: Women's and Gender Studies Minor and Women's and Gender Studies Program is currently recruiting a Graduate Assistantship.
Position provides the student with an educational experience in which they apply specific learning such as functional knowledge, skills, and abilities, gained from their overall educational program, whereby: 60% of the student's duties and responsibilities are directly related to the program of study, and 25% of the student's duties and responsibilities are administrative/clerical in nature, i.e. event setup and takedown, filing, copying. |
Essential Functions |
The individual in this position provides support services to the Director of the Women's and Gender Studies Program, the graduate and undergraduate students enrolled in
WMST courses and those who declare the minor, students seeking information about the minor, as well as the program's instructors and faculty affiliates. In addition to basic clerical tasks and events management, they will work with the Director of the Women's and Gender Studies Program on a variety projects related to the Minor and Women's and Gender Studies Program. These projects may include assisting with marketing, coordinating, hosting, and promoting programs and events, and creating content for social media/website, digital and print publications. Projects will focus on working with a variety of stakeholders and will work closely with students, faculty, staff and community partners.
This position will apply functional knowledge, skills, and abilities from the educational program related to the administration and coordination of language acquisition and applying related theories to working with students. The benefits added will be related to enhancing the student's ability to develop, program, and implement curriculum and administrative practices as they interact with a variety of students.
The position will apply functional knowledge, skills and abilities from the educational program to administrative and program specific duties to include assist with maintaining communication and interacting with diverse groups of constituents at all levels of the institution (e.g., students, faculty, administration), utilize pedagogy to develop academic programming, implementation of initiatives following best practices, promote learning and academic excellence outside of the classroom, and contribute to enhancing student interest and the scope the of the program. The benefits added will be related to enhancing the student's ability to develop, program and implement curriculum, initiatives and administrative practices in the educational setting, obtaining broader knowledge about the educational field, and advancing interpersonal, teamwork, leadership and technical skills that can be applied to their career. |
Minimum Qualifications |
- Bachelor's degree
- All candidates must be either current Auburn University graduate students, OR will be enrolled at time appointment begins

- Organizational skills and the ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks to meet deadlines
- Dependability, multi-tasking, and the ability to switch priorities based on program needs
