POSITION DESCRIPTION This position will be involved in interdisciplinary studies focusing on questions regarding disease progression at the cellular level, specifically focused on the intersection between cell stress and nuclear homeostasis in the context of cancer and neurodegenerative disease. The candidate will use basic molecular biology and molecular genetic approaches to create novel cell lines that express protein tags in order to monitor autophagy and chromosome stability. A working knowledge of fluorescence microscopy and image analysis software is required. The ideal candidate will have experience in computer coding and be willing to develop image analysis pipelines. The position also requires maintaining lab stocks, organizing and storing yeast strains as well as general lab upkeep. The candidate should be passionate about discovery and interested in pursuing career objectives aligned with inquiry in the biological sciences. The ideal candidate will have strong interpersonal and communication skills and will possess an eagerness to investigate cell biological mechanisms as part of a dynamic interactive team. Qualifications Basic qualifications

Bachelor's degree in cell or molecular biology with coursework in human disease biology, membrane trafficking and cellular signaling pathways. Experience in using molecular genetic techniques, including PCR, quantitative measurement of DNA, cell transformation and the concepts underlying genetic screening. The candidate must be familiar with the application of live cell imaging and fluorescent microscopy to measure protein levels and sub-cellular localization. Maintaining a complete and detailed laboratory notebook of experimental procedures and data and to archive, label and document graphic and tabular data for publication, proposals, and/or presentations.
