DEFINITION: Under direction of the Dean, Student Services, plan, organize, and coordinate a wide range of activities and oversee support of cross-curricular education and programs. CLASS CHARACTERISTICS: The incumbent in this position independently performs work under minimal supervision necessary for the success of programs. Under the general direction of the Dean, the AIM/Dream Coordinator exercises independent judgment in the day-to-day operation of the AIM/Dream Center, working with students across curricular disciplines to design, develop and organize learning experiences. Develop awareness and understanding of the experiences of students while maintaining the confidentiality; develop campus responses and processes to address student needs related to persistence, retention and graduation.

Essential Functions and Qualifications

- Plans and provides leadership of the day-to-day operation of the AIM/Dream Center; maintains communication with faculty, staff, and students; coordinates designs, implements and evaluates AIM/DREAM Center activities; and works with college and state agencies as needed to ensure successful implementation of the center in accordance with statewide guidelines.
- Consults with faculty and administrators of support services to assist in improved delivery of AIM/DREAM Center services to students; maintains contact with local outside agencies in order to facilitate student internships, and provide field trips, speakers and other enrichment activities.
- Develops plans for implementation of a tutoring and study program which may include academic workshops, group study activities, and other projects designed to promote greater student success in subject areas.
- Provide various support workshops that include but are not limited to DACA and DREAM Act application, financial aid, etc.
- Develops informational materials about the AIM/DREAM Center and its services.
- Implements grant and categorical fund project objectives according to the timelines established in the awards and oversees and monitors grant and categorical fund project deliverables.
- Sets and monitors goals and develops tasks; coordinates the work of classified staff and student workers.
- Plans, organizes, and conducts faculty and student orientations.
- Plans, organizes, and conducts professional development workshops for faculty across the disciplines.
- Provides information to the campus community about AIM/DREAM services and promotes the AIM/DREAM Center at college events.
- Collaborates with Student Services and Academic Affairs to coordinate and carry out activities or delivery of services (i.e. Admissions, Financial Aid, EOPS, Tutorial/ Open Access Lab, Learning Assistance Program, MATH Center and Writing Center).
- Responsible for monitoring allocations, budget and expenses; orders materials, supplies and equipment; writes reports; participates in training workshops and meetings; and maintains regular contact with Student Equity and Achievement Program.
- Assists students with written and computerized laboratory and/or class assignments, diagnoses students' skill areas and develops intervention strategies as needed.
- Assists with preparing and assessing student learning outcomes for the AIM/DREAM Center, enters data and prepares reports related to outcomes.
- Monitor student progress toward academic goal; works with Student Activities and Outreach to encourage student participation in the Mentorship Program.
- Tracks AIM/DREAM Center usage and prepares statistical reports.
- Participates on grant teams to secure funding for AIM/DREAM Center expansion and staffing.
- Maintain and evaluate the program department's database; prepare State and Federal annual reports.
- Promote to faculty and staff participation in DREAM Ally Training through the different department to learn how to best support undocumented students.
- May chair committees related to AIM/Dream Center.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Knowledge of:
- Educational needs of community college students at the remedial/basic skills level;
- Tutorial techniques for assisting students in multiple disciplines;
- Office procedures, filing and business correspondence, report writing;
- Office methods, practices, and equipment;
- Database utilization for scheduling, budgeting, and program evaluation;
- Budget procedures and financial records;
- Basic functions and operations of computers and software programs;
- Effective oral and written communication in English and Spanish;
- Academic and student and services resources, policies and procedures;
- Special needs of educationally and economically disadvantaged students;
- AB 540, AB 130 &131 (DREAM ACT), SB 60, SB 68 and DACA.
Demonstrated ability to:
- Tutor students effectively;
- Develop operation, procedures and practices;
- Create seminars and workshops which meet the basic skills needs of the college community;
- Analyze basic skills needs and recommend changes;
- Learn, interpret, and apply college policies with sound judgment;
- Assess student achievement and diagnose learning problems;
- Provide instructional assistance and technical advice to students on the availability and uses of instructional materials and equipment;
- Analyzes and provides solutions to problems; handles complaints;
- Communicate effectively in English/Spanish, both orally and in writing;
- Learn, interpret, and apply college policies and sound judgment;
- Understand and carry out oral and written directions.
Working Conditions
:
- May be required to work a flexible workweek which includes day and evening hours and occasional weekend assignments as outlined in the provisions of the Collective Bargaining
Agreement and may be assigned to any district location. - The incumbent will experience interruptions while performing normal duties during the
- regular workday.
- The incumbent will have contact in person, via telephone or electronically with students, management, supervisors, academic and classified staff and the general public.
- Work requires travel to other offices or locations to attend meetings or conduct work.
Physical Demands
:
- Typically may sit for extended periods of time;
- Operates a computer;
- Communicates over the telephone;
- Regularly lifts, carries and/or moves objects weighing up to 10 pounds.
Special Qualification:
Evidence of a sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, and ethnic backgrounds of staff and students and to staff and students with disabilities.

Minimum Qualifications
-
Education and Experience: A bachelor's degree, or higher, in education or related field; a minimum of one-year experience in an education environment. Bilingual/bicultural in English/Spanish. Preferred qualifications: possession of a master's degree of higher from an accredited college or university in guidance and counseling, student services, educational leadership and administration or equivalent academic preparation. Two to three years of formal training, internship, or leadership experience reasonably related administrative assignment of the equivalent.

The desired start date is August 2024. This a full-time, 37-hours-per-week, 12-month, classified position.
