A Red Valve Welder II is expected to safely meet production goals and objectives for the company by assembling various fabricated and/or cast products and weld various metals using MIG, TIG, and Stick equipment. This position requires highly motivated self-starters who thrive in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. The candidate should be comfortable working with various metals, such as cast iron, steel, stainless steel, aluminum, and bronze. The candidate will focus on setting up, operating, maintaining, and troubleshooting manufacturing production equipment to manufacture products according to production specifications, schedules, volume/cost/wastage targets, and quality standards. Additionally, you will need to monitor the quality of output to identify, discard, or re-manufacture faulty products and maintain accurate daily production records. Requires basic knowledge of job procedures and tools obtained through work experience and may require vocational or technical education. Problems are typically of a routine nature but may require interpretation or deviation from standard procedures. Works within established procedures and guidelines with limited ability to modify methods and approach. Completes assigned tasks with a moderate degree of supervision. Follows established safety/environmental practices and regulations.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following:


  • Correctly reads job specifications from build sheet/work order/blueprint/specification, to determine exact material required and welds materials to produce sub-assemblies or finished products
  • Manufacture parts to meet production and quality requirements
  • Ensures that all equipment and tools are maintained in working order
  • Tracks production via daily management and ERP system
  • Notifies supervisor of any mechanical or material issues
  • Maintains a clean and safe work area.
  • Responsible for maintaining high quality standards
  • Participate in Kaizen events and continuous improvement/lean initiatives
  • Maintain work cell through 5S and housekeeping
  • May need to operate a forklift
  • Participates in special projects as required



Supervisory Responsibilities

This position does not have any supervisory responsibilities.

Education


High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or a minimum of two years related manufacturing experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience with an emphasis in machine operation

Skills/Experience


  • 3-5 years of welding experience
  • Required: Demonstrate a high level of energy, drive, enthusiasm, initiative, and professionalism
  • Required: Basic mathematical abilities
  • Required: Intermediate ability to demonstrate accuracy and thoroughness
  • Required: Must be able to take direction and work as part of a team
  • Required: Basic ability to read, write, and communicate
  • Required: Ethical conduct
  • Required: Intermediate ability to read blueprints and build sheets
  • Required: Ability to operate mandrels, cranes, hoists, and other various equipment typical in a manufacturing environment, as well as various hand power tools
  • Required: Ability to perform physical manufacturing work; good mechanical aptitude
  • Required: Must be able to lift 50lbs on a regular basis
  • Required: Must be able to pass a background check and an eight panel drug screening
  • Preferred: Basic computer skills
  • Preferred: Experience working with the following materials is preferred: rubber, elastomers, metals
