BACKGROUND: International Rescue Committee (IRC) responds to the world's worst humanitarian crises and helps people to survive and rebuild their lives. At work in more than 40 countries and over 25 U.S. cities, the IRC provides resettlement, education and empowerment support to refugees and displaced people. SCOPE OF WORK (INTERN): The Financial Capabilities intern will support the IRC in NJ's Financial Capabilities program. This program aims to increase the financial literacy of participants, provide them with financial coaching and access to low-interest loans. This program aims to empower participants to become self-sufficient through classes that better help them maintain their finances. The Financial Coaching intern will support the program by providing financial coaching and counseling services to program participants while also coordinating monthly financial education workshops for all IRC clients. The intern will assist clients with learning about U.S. financial institutions and systems, banking, credit, budgeting, taxes, and other financial literacy topics. This unpaid position is open to current college students, graduate students, and postgraduate students with course credit available. RESPONSIBILITIES:
