The Department of Pharmacy, consistent with the mission of Johns Hopkins Medicine, places a priority on teaching, research and patient care. At Johns Hopkins Hospital, the department is responsible for providing acute care pharmacy services for a diverse population of medical and surgical patients, with additional services provided within the Johns Hopkins Outpatient Center and affiliated clinics. Within the department, there are 45 acute care and primary care clinical pharmacy specialists as well as 31 general and specialized pharmacy residents.

The Johns Hopkins Hospital is seeking a motivated individual to assume an Addiction Medicine and Complex Pain Clinical Pharmacy Specialist role. The individual will work collaboratively with members of the healthcare team, including physicians, nurses, social workers, and other pharmacists to provide comprehensive medication management to patients with substance use disorders. The Clinical Pharmacy Specialist will be responsible for the provision and oversight of pharmacotherapy for patients on the addiction medicine consult service in the acute care setting. The specialist will also collaborate with the opioid stewardship program and support some transitions of care and ambulatory addiction medicine patient care services.

The Clinical Pharmacy Specialist will work with the multi-disciplinary addiction medicine consult team to develop therapeutic plans, monitor for desired outcomes, and provide patient education. The pharmacist serves as a resource to the team for symptom management, appropriate dosing, and drug information.

The Clinical Pharmacy Specialist will also provide education to students, residents, pharmacists, and other health care practitioners and serve as a preceptor for pharmacy residents of ASHP-accredited PGY-1 and PGY-2 pharmacy practice and specialty practice programs. Additionally, the Clinical Pharmacy Specialist will support clinical research conducted by the institution and participate as an active member of hospital and departmental committees to assist with formulary management and policy development. Faculty appointments are available through affiliations with the University of Maryland College of Pharmacy, the University of Notre Dame of Maryland College of Pharmacy, and the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine.

Preferred qualifications for this position include the completion of a PharmD degree, PGY-1 residency, and PGY-2 specialty residency in pain and palliative care. Board of Pharmacy Specialties (BPS) certification is required within two years of start date.

Salary Range: Minimum 57.55 per hour - Maximum 95.04 per hour. Compensation will be commensurate with equity and experience for roles of similar scope and responsibility.

In cases where the range is displayed as a $0 amount, salary discussions will occur during candidate screening calls, before any subsequent compensation discussion is held between the candidate and any hiring authority.
