DESCRIPTION

Under direct supervision of the clinic manager and the general supervision of the clinic providers and licensed nursing staff, performs work which requires specific knowledge and training in patient care duties within business and professions code of the State of California and/or the regulations The Joint Commission (TJC). These duties also include but are not limited to: scheduling of patient appointments and associated patient system screens; accurate billing; environmental care functions; equipment/supply management; and cleaning/disinfecting the environment. Other related duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) OR Certificate of completion of a Medical Assistant training program.

  • Previous Medical Assistant experience and one (1) year Ambulatory Care experience.

  • BART or BLS at time of hire with commitment to get BART within six (6) months of hire date.

  • Proven experience with EPIC and Cadence module one process PARs.

  • Knowledge in medical terminology, online scheduling, universal precautions, and proper use of body mechanics.

  • Experience in direct patient care. Skills in accurately taking and recording vital signs, height, and weight. Administering medication including injections; interviewing patients; and collecting specimens.

  • Proven knowledge of the normal range of values for vital signs, emergency procedures, and of basic lab and infection control procedures; standard items used to stock exam rooms.

  • Thorough knowledge of the patient flow process in order to efficiently monitor appointments, patients and available physicians.

  • Proven general knowledge of pharmaceuticals.

  • Demonstrated experience assisting with procedures.

  • Possess the personal characteristics of professionalism, credibility, commitment to high standards, innovation, discriminating judgment and accountability.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Three (3) years of Ambulatory Care experience.
  • Family Medicine/Internal Medicine experience.
  • Front Office and Pediatric experience.
  • Experience assisting with procedures.
  • Experience with EPIC and Cadence module.
SPECIAL CONDITIONS
  • Must be willing to work overtime as required.
  • Must be able to work various hours and locations based on business needs.
  • Employment is subject to a criminal background check and pre-employment physical.

Pay Transparency Act

Annual Full Pay Range: $50,321 - $62,640 (will be prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%)

Hourly Equivalent: $24.10 - $30.00

Factors in determining the appropriate compensation for a role include experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. The Hiring Pay Scale referenced in the job posting is the budgeted salary or hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position. The Annual Full Pay Range may be broader than what the University anticipates to pay for this position, based on internal equity, budget, and collective bargaining agreements (when applicable).
