Creighton University is seeking to hire an Associate Director of Conference and Event Services in Omaha, NE.

This role provides strategic and operational leadership for the Signature Event Planning Team, Centralized Reservations, and the Summer Conference program. Partners closely with the Associate Director of Events and Student Center Operations to plan and execute all non-academic events at Creighton.

Reporting to the Director of University Conference & Event Services, this position is a key member of the Creighton Events team, providing strategic and operational leadership for the Signature Event Planning Team, Centralized Reservations, and the Summer @ Creighton summer conference program. They will partner closely with the Associate Director of Events and Student Center Operations to plan and execute all non-academic events at Creighton.

In conjunction with the Director, the Associate Director of Conference & Event Services oversees and directs the Signature Events Team in the development and implementation of university events that support the president's office and academic ceremonial events such as Commencement. Provides direction for the development and implementation of other significant events for schools/colleges, and other stakeholders that make positive contributions to the University's image and reputation. This involves management of other event professionals focused on best practices in executing quality events that build affinity and connect to the University. This team plans, executes, and manages all aspects of these key events and works cooperatively with marketing and communications staff, internal units and outside vendors as appropriate. The Associate Director is also responsible for prioritizing and implementing opportunities for improvement in effectiveness.

The Associate Director oversees and provides support to Centralized Reservations and the Summer at Creighton summer conference program. Centralized Reservations provides the Creighton campus with event planning and logistical support for all non-academic event reservations (internal and external) on the Omaha campus. The Summer at Creighton program brings thousands of visitors to the Creighton campus from May - August and provides support to the individuals and groups from the initial point of request throughout their stay on our campus.

Hours per week: Full-time, 12 months, 40 hours per week. Some evening/weekend hours are required dependent upon event demands. Should be prepared to work 40+ hours a week during critical times of year.

Key Responsibilities



  • Direct the development and implementation of the University's Signature events plan (e.g., Presidential Events and other high visibility events with the potential to impact institutional reputation). Oversees the University's Commencement ceremony and other key presidential events. Ensures events are executed properly to build affinity among key audiences.
  • Responsible for Centralized Reservations, including the marketing and acquisition of new business for both OMA and PHX event spaces while streamlining and improving current/ existing business.
  • Oversee and Manage Summer at Creighton: including sales and marketing of summer conference opportunities, event scheduling and registration, event planning and logistics, and contracting.



Qualifications



  • Bachelor's degree in Higher Education administration, Business administration, Marketing, Hotel and Restaurant Management, or related major required. Master's degree preferred.
  • 3 years of event, operations, and/or business experience required.
  • 2 years of experience supervising professional staff and managing team(s) required. Event planning and execution experience preferred.
  • Computer skills with ability to use Microsoft office products (e.g., Outlook, Teams, Word, Excel, etc.). Experience with CRM and event management software platforms (e.g., 25Live, EMS, CVENT, etc.) is a plus.
  • Fiscal and budget management experience. Experience managing contracts and relationships with clients and external vendors preferred.
