INSTRUCTOR/SME

The command and control (C2) / Electromagnetic Warfare instructor/subject matter expert (I/SME) provides combat air forces expertise for the USAF Weapons School's (USAFWS) instructional materials. The WS I/SME provides operational expertise to USAFWS courseware development (CWD) team members on the technical, performance, and employment aspects of aerospace weapons systems, associated equipment, and support systems. The I/SME also performs instructional duties as classroom, simulator and mission instructor. Primary responsibilities include all types of classroom and mission instruction (lecture, seminar lead, coaching, facilitator, etc.) and ensuring courseware is developed utilizing instructional systems development (ISD) principles as defined by the USAFWS. Acting in an advisory capacity to Weapons Squadrons and the USAFWS, the I/SME conducts research when applicable and makes recommendations as necessary for the updating and enhancement of academic and other instructional media.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education: Graduate of the USAF Weapons School or Fighter Weapons School

Training and Experience: Previous instructor/evaluator experience as an Air Battle Manager (ABM) in either one or a combination of the following C2 systems: USAF E-3 Airborne Warning and Control System (AWACS), Joint Surveillance Target Attack Radar System (JSTARS), Control and Reporting Center (CRC) AN/TYQ-23A and TPS-75 control system, Battlespace Command and Control Center (BCC), and/or Japan Air Defense Ground Environment (JADGE). Also experience working with BC3 Battlespace command and control center radar display system.

Or previous instructor/evaluator experience as an Electromagnetic Warfare Officer (EWO) in either EC130H as a Mission Crew Commander (MCC) or RC-135V/W Tactical Coordinator (TC).

Preferred qualifications: 1) Current Top Secret security clearance; 2) Previous experience as a Weapons School or an academic (FTU) platform instructor; 3) Qualified instructor/evaluator within the preceding four years or qualified as a contract instructor within the preceding two years. 4) Have attended the military instructional systems development (ISD) course, or civilian equivalent. 5) Bachelor's degree required (Education or related discipline desired).

Skills: Must possess strong technical writing skills and highly developed collaboration, communication, organizational and facilitation abilities; able to express ideas clearly in documents and facilitate concepts in a classroom setting with appropriate organization, structure and grammar; capable of adjusting language and terminology to meet the characteristics and needs of the audience; ability to effectively manage numerous tasks and projects simultaneously; ability to foster teamwork throughout the organization; ability to work individually and as part of a team; strong interpersonal skills; ability to develop technical and conceptual content; ability to design learning activities that take advantage of principles of adult learning, participant-centered learning, effective facilitation and debriefing techniques; ability to establish and maintain customer-oriented relationships, including listening to and understanding the customer (both internal and external) and placing high priority on customer satisfaction

Computer Skills: Proficient in Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint.

Security Clearance: Must maintain a TOP SECRET/SCI level security clearance.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES



  • Instructs and measures training process of students who train in the established weapons school training curriculum.
  • Conducts briefings and debriefings and counsels with student to develop and maintain a high level of proficiency.
  • Performs simulator instructor duties relative to weapons school training curriculum, monitoring student progress, training development and maintenance of simulator training programs.
  • Maintains a high level of subject knowledge, capability and expertise.
  • Develops, analyzes and reviews all assigned courseware and related materials IAW the current Air Force model of ISD as defined in DAFH 36-2675.
  • Analyzes test items and cumulative data for trends, and performs basic trend analysis.
  • Maintains a thorough working knowledge of all applicable regulations, instructions, procedures, Technical Orders, and other publications as outlined in the Performance Work Statement (PWS).
  • Reviews and/or revises courseware materials on both a scheduled and out-of-cycle basis IAW the PWS.
  • Develops, coordinates, and produces a specialty specific courseware development schedule which identifies projected milestones and time phasing of courseware delivery throughout the year; updates this scheduled as required.
  • Perform other incidental and related duties as required and assigned.
