Overview

We are seeking a Scientist to join our Protein Sciences group within Medicinal Chemistry to help with antibody engineering, production, conjugation and development efforts. The candidate must be independent, goal oriented, technically competent, and able to efficiently work across multiple projects. We are searching for enthusiastic, innovative, and highly motivated individuals, with scientific background in protein expression, purification, protein conjugation and analytical techniques, who are comfortable working in a fast-paced entrepreneurial environment.The successful candidate will have a strong background in antibody engineering with conjugation experience being a plus.

This position is onsite and will be located at 675 W. Kendall St. Cambridge, MA 02142

This is a laboratory-based position

Key Responsibilities

  • Design of antibodies sequences from literature and patent sources (bispecifics, Fc fusions, Fabs, scFvs)
  • Understanding of antibody ligand/target interactions (HDX and crystallography experience is nice to have)
  • Work closely with a team of scientists to help deliver and validate antibodies (Fabs, Fc fusions, bispecifics) at various scales of production
  • Characterize proteins using several methods (SDS-PAGE, melting point, size-exclusion chromatography, ionic-exchange, UV-Vis, DLS, ELISA)
  • Validate proteins using BLI (Octet) or SPR (Biacore) and report kinetics
  • Contribution to group organization, productivity, and expertise through collaboration and idea exchange
  • Meet quality, quantity, and timelines in all assigned projects
  • Support the discovery efforts in protein sciences
  • Proper electronic notebook record keeping
  • Communication of experimental plans and data to multiple cross-functional scientific teams
  • Will be part of cross-functional teams including biologists, chemists, and pharmacologists to contribute to the strategic direction of research programs across multiple therapeutic modalities

Qualifications

  • The candidate should have a PhD degree with 0-2 year of post-doctoral experience in biology, biochemistry, biophysics, chemistry, or a related field with relevant laboratory experience
  • Experience with antibody design and purification (including bispecifics, Fc fusions, Fabs, scfvs)
  • Experience with antibody-drug conjugates is nice to have
  • Pharmaceutical or biotechnology industry experience is preferred
  • Experience with transient protein expression in mammalian cells
  • Experience with AKTA and unicorn software
  • Experience with sterile cell culture techniques
  • Experience with recombinant protein analysis (affinity, size exclusion, reverse phase, hydrophobic interaction, ion exchange chromatography, SDS-PAGE, and UV-VIS spectroscopy)
  • Experience with the chemical conjugation of proteins
  • Experience with SPR and/or Octet binding experiments
  • Passionate about driving his or her projects from the bench to independently contribute to research directions and solve challenging issues
  • Detail oriented, self-motivated, and comfortable working with highly technical projects
  • Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously and deliver conclusive results
  • Highly adaptable and responsive to new priorities in a fast passed environment
  • Effective written and oral communication skills
  • Experience preparing and presenting using Powerpoint software
  • Team oriented with strong work ethic
