Overview
The Senior Director of Global Market Insights and Competitive Intelligence at Alnylam Pharmaceuticals will oversee both global and regional market research initiatives, generating actionable insights to support the company's commercial objectives across all programs and therapeutic areas. This role is pivotal in guiding strategic decision-making throughout the organization by integrating market dynamics and customer insights into the company's overall strategy. As a member of the Customer Experience and Innovation Leadership team, this individual will be responsible for collaborating closely with counterparts who lead Advanced Analytics and Data Strategy and Omnichannel Engagement to ensure a unified voice in driving customer-focused strategies. Additionally, this leader is expected to grow and develop a high-performing team that champions customer insights throughout the company. Location: Cambridge, MA Key Responsibilities
- Strategic Thought Partnership:Act as a strategic thought partner to senior leadership, providing deep insights into customer behavior, market dynamics, and the competitive landscape. Collaborate closely to drive key business decisions, challenge assumptions, refine strategies, and ensure alignment with the company's long-term objectives.
- Team Leadership:Establish the vision and priorities for the market research organization. Lead, mentor, and develop a team of market research professionals, fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement.
- Insight Communication:Guide the team in synthesizing and translating complex data into clear, actionable insights. Ensure findings are communicated effectively to senior leadership through compelling storytelling.
- Global Market Research Strategy:Develop and implement a comprehensive global market research strategy that informs product development, commercialization, and lifecycle management.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration:Partner with cross-functional teams, including Marketing, Sales, R&D, and Business Development, to ensure market research efforts are aligned with business needs and objectives.
- Vendor Management:Oversee relationships with external research vendors, ensuring the delivery of high-quality insights that drive strategic business outcomes.
- Stakeholder Engagement:Engage with a broad range of stakeholders, including customers, healthcare professionals, payers, and internal teams. Ensure insights are effectively communicated across all levels of the organization to drive alignment and action.
- Global Operations Oversight:Manage global market research operations, considering regional differences in market dynamics, regulatory environments, and cultural nuances. Align market research efforts with the company's international strategies.
- Financial Management:Oversee the budget for the market research function, ensuring efficient resource allocation and alignment of research investments with business priorities. Manage financial forecasting for the department
- Compliance and Governance:Ensure all market research activities comply with relevant laws, regulations, and ethical standards, including data privacy regulations and industry standards.
- Innovation and Continuous Improvement:Foster a culture of continuous improvement within the market research team by embracing new technologies, methodologies, and approaches. Stay ahead of market trends to deliver cutting-edge insights.
- External Representation:Represent the company at industry conferences, events, and forums to enhance visibility, network with key industry players, and stay informed on emerging trends that could impact the company's market positioning.
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, Market Research, or a related field. An advanced degree (MBA, Ph.D.) is highly preferred.
- Experience: At least 15 years of experience in market research within the pharmaceutical or biotechnology industry. Proven experience in leading market research teams and partnering with senior leadership.
- Skills: Strong strategic thinking, leadership, and communication skills. Expertise in data synthesis, storytelling, and vendor management. Demonstrated ability to collaborate across functions and drive strategic decisions based on customer insights and market dynamics.
- Leadership: Track record of leading high-performing teams and fostering a culture of innovation and continuous improvement.
- Analytical Skills: Proficiency in analyzing and synthesizing complex data to deliver actionable insights and strategic recommendations.
- Commercialization Experience: Brand team and/or P&L leadership experience is preferred.
- Consumer Marketing: Deep expertise in consumer marketing and market research.
