Job Description:

Reporting to the Senior Manager, Engineering in Denton TX, the Senior Electrical Engineer is a technical leader and senior contributor in the development of electrical designs for new products. Focus centered on inverter-based power supplies for the heavy industrial plasma cutting industry. Position requires in-depth knowledge of hardened electrical design practices for industrial equipment.

Primary Duties

  • Development of various electrical aspects of new product designs, often requiring significant innovation. Requires high level understanding of inverter-based power supplies.
  • Developing and testing designs from concept through to manufacture release.
  • Appraisal of integrity of electrical product designs.
  • Identification of new technologies and development techniques.
  • Design validation testing. Requires expertise in determining which variables are important, ability to instrument and take accurate data and generating accurate analysis using acquired design and laboratory skills.
  • Presentation of test and/or analysis results and design ideas both orally and written in a clear and informative manner providing all pertinent facts, figures, and proof of assumptions.
  • Contributor to the development of engineering and product specification, generation of cost estimates and development schedules.
  • Hands on building and testing of prototype designs.
  • Sustaining of existing product including trouble shooting field issues and addressing existing design issues.
  • Expected to provide technical direction and mentoring to others.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science Electrical Engineering.
  • Strong technical and analytical skills with demonstrated experience as technical project leader.
  • Printed Circuit board design and layout.
  • Competent in analog control circuits, digital control circuits, inverter power management, data collection and test methods.
  • Technical expertise in five or more of the following: analog control circuits; digital control circuits; digital signal processing using micro-controllers, micro-processors, or digital signal processors; conventional power management; switching power management; power factor correction.

Working Conditions

  • Remains in a stationary position 50% of the time and involves additional physical demands such as ascending/descending stairs, walking stooping and standing.
  • Must wear Personal Protective Equipment 'PPE' when working/visiting manufacturing and plant locations.
  • Constantly operates a computer and other office productivity machinery including but not limited to printer, tablets, cell phones.
  • Moves transports, puts, or removes equipment weighing up to 50 lbs.; pushes, pulls products weighing up to 200 lbs. using provided safety tools.
  • May be exposed to varying weather during travel.
  • Domestic Travel up to 15%.
