Description

Rigaku Innovative Technologies (RIT), a subsidiary of Rigaku Corporation, is currently looking for an experienced Optical Metrology Engineer in Precision Optics. The Optical Metrology Engineer will be responsible for leading/assisting in defining, designing, and developing optical metrology tools for characterization of X-ray mirror surfaces, including characterize optical surface figure, hardware engineering, software development, and instrumentation.

Responsibilities:



  • Develop, implement, test, and operate optical metrology tools for the characterization X-ray mirror surfaces in various spatial frequencies
  • Develop relevant algorithms and run programs for metrology data analysis to evaluate X-ray mirror surface in terms of slope and height errors
  • Develop workflow and execute programs for feeding metrology data to the deterministic optical fabrication process
  • Maintenance and calibration of optical and metrology equipment
  • Support in-house optics development by providing accurate metrology data
  • Assisting senior technical staff in development of new techniques and processes for advancement of X-ray mirror technology


Qualifications

Requirements:

The position is available at different proficiency levels. The offer depends on qualification.



  • Education: PhD, or Masters with a minimum of 2 years, or BS with a minimum of 3 years in Optical Sciences, Optical Engineering, Physics, or a related field
  • 2+ years' experience in optical metrology instruments is required, such as profilometers and interferometers. Experienced in FIZEAU interferometer is a plus
  • Strong hands-on skills for engineering and handling fragile parts with attention to detail and quality
  • Strong computer skills with programming and modeling concepts as a plus
  • Understanding the impact of surface characteristics on the performance of optics
  • Basic knowledge and experience in precision optics fabrication is a plus
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work as part of a team to solve problems of scientific and technological interest to RIT
  • Ability to learn new equipment and processes quickly
