Position Highlights
FEPPS provides a rigorous college program to incarcerated women in Washington and creates pathways to higher education after women are released from prison. The goals are to increase women prisoner's economic and personal empowerment, contribute to family stability and reduce recidivism through college education.

Tacoma Community College and the Freedom Education Project Puget Sounds is seeking applicants to create a pool of volunteer adjunct instructors to teach Associate of Arts classes at the Washington Corrections Center for Women (WCCW) in Gig Harbor, WA. This is normally a safe environment; however, the potential for compromise of personal safety does exist.

This recruitment is to establish an volunteer registry for future vacancies. Individuals will be contacted as vacancies occur.

Essential Functions

The instructor's primary responsibility will be providing a quality education for all WCCW students. This position is responsible to teacher, mentor and facilitate learning to the students. This volunteer position is supervised by the Freedom Education Project Puget Sound (FEPPS) and will be responsible for teaching TCC approved courses to offenders incarcerated at WCCW. Candidates will teach assigned classes, prepare teaching materials, assign grades, maintain records and consult with students as required. Master's degree in academic subject area or related field is required. Must be able to work collaboratively with excellent teamwork and communication skills.
