Overview
Our Environmental Sector delivers comprehensive environmental solutions to meet the full project lifecycle needs of clients in renewable energy, oil & gas, transportation, and manufacturing industries. With one of the largest multimedia air and land permitting and compliance teams in the country, we support client success in manufacturing and industry, liquids delivery and processing, natural gas storage and delivery, power generation and delivery, and transportation projects. We are seeking a Senior Project Manager to join our Planning, Permitting, and Licensing (PPL) Practice. This role will be part of the Western growth initiative. Successful candidate will be an energetic, flexible team player with senior level experience to join our regional biological, natural resources, cultural, and permitting team. TRC supports a wide variety of projects, including renewable energy (hydropower/wind/solar/storage), electric transmission, natural gas pipeline, transportation, infrastructure, mining, and other development projects.
Responsibilities
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES & TASKS Position Description and KPIs
- Elements of projects and program management that include being the point person for solicitation requests and dissemination of requests to the correct person in operations. Oversight of proposal response and project delivery teams in terms of providing coaching and guidance. Senior Project Management, delivery, and execution of project work for existing and new clients.
Summary: 50% (Project Management/Delivery/Execution) of role:
- Execution of project work for key clients;
- Collaborate with operations on a go-no go (GNG) decision and staffing decisions;
- Operations staff are tasked with doing the work/heavy lifting associated with responding to a proposal, etc. This role will require championing efforts around positioning and capture.

- Cross sector (EV, Power, Field Services, & Infrastructure) selling of services within the Energy Industry. A key stakeholder in delivery and interfaces with clients regarding their satisfaction with TRC's services.
Summary: 50% Client Management and Business Development role:

- Collaboration with TRC's Client Development Unit and National Marketing Group;
- Key Client Account Management;
- This portion is market and client facing;
- Account Director is an influencer and will require rapport building across a variety of key stakeholders;
- Liaison/advocate for OneTRC;
- Goal is to grow and develop existing clients across sectors and new service lines; and
- Getting to know clients, relationship building, pushing strategic initiatives, and influencing protocols to be more proactive and less reactive will underpin our success in driving this growth.
Other Additional Details
- Mentoring and Coaching - environmental planning, SME staff, other account managers.
- Recruiting - This new role is an investment in the Energy: Oil & Gas (LNG), Utilities, Renewables & overall environmental planning capabilities of TRC and is expected to play an active role in identifying and hiring environmental planning support staff, as identified to support existing and upcoming client deliverables.
- Candidates may also assist other leaders with permitting and managing projects at the federal, state, and local levels.
- Expectation is for candidate to be geographically located in the Utah / Idaho areas. Position will have the ability to work in various locations within those states.
Qualifications
QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
- We seek appropriately qualified candidates with a minimum of 10+ years of applicable experience with a bachelor's or master's degree in forestry, botany, biology, wildlife, fisheries, natural resources, wetland science or related field.
- A team-focused, collaborative work style is strongly preferred.
- Clear and concise technical writing and written and verbal communication skills are mandatory.
- Excellent data collection skills and work with GPS and ArcGIS equipment.
- Ability to understand and observe scope, schedule, budget, and quality while meeting client needs.
- Ability to support business development efforts including preparing proposals, delivering presentations, and participating in meetings with clients.
- Able to effectively coordinate field work, direct and support other technical staff, and interact with clients, stakeholders, and contractors.
- Maintain a positive attitude and deliver exceptional client service and leadership, while sometimes working under aggressive schedules and with controversial projects.
- Demonstrated experience preparing technical reports, permit applications, and mitigation monitoring plans.
- Candidate will have familiarity with key environmental federal and state statutes and regulations including the U.S. Endangered Species Act, Migratory Bird Treaty Act, National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA), Clean Water Act, Bald and Golder Eagle Protection Act, and other relevant statutes and regulations.
- Demonstrated experience with their relevant field of study including policies, procedures, methodologies, protocols, and local, state, and federal agency consultation, and their requirements pertaining to candidates' field of study.
- Experience with one or more of the following agencies: U.S. Army Corp of Engineers, Bureau of Land Management, U.S. Forest Service, Indian Lands, and U.S. Fish and Wildlife, or other Federal and State Agencies.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Relevant state, agency, or federal certification (e.g., PWS, USFWS species survey certifications, etc.), or the ability to obtain such certification.
- Knowledge of the following: Southwest flora and fauna, plant species identification, wetland field delineation, natural resource inventory, construction-related erosion and sedimentation control practices, post-construction restoration monitoring, and wildlife habitat assessments.
- Preference will also be given to applicants that have experience working in multiple sectors: e.g., renewable energy (wind/solar/storage/hydro), Oil & Gas, Mining, and Electric Transmission sectors.
- Solid experience in one or more of the following states Arizona, Colorado, New Mexico, Nevada, Utah, and/or Wyoming state and local permitting and siting is preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to mentor junior staff and project managers to encourage their professional development.
