Position Summary
The Department of Radiology and the Biomedical Research Imaging Center ( BRIC) at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill invite applications for a faculty position in the area of MR Physics. The State of North Carolina has made significant investment to establish the Biomedical Research Imaging Center, an institution center dedicated to imaging research. The BRIC houses a comprehensive collection of human and animal imaging devices. Of particularly relevant to this position are the 3T whole body MR, hybrid PET/MR scanner, whole body 7T MR scanner, and a 9.4T small animal MR scanner. The applicant will join a multidisciplinary imaging research team consists of investigators with diverse yet complementary expertise, including imaging acquisition (MR, PET, SPECT, CT, ultrasound, and optical imaging), image analysis, imaging statistics and informatics, imaging hardware (MR, CT, and optical imaging), and clinical applications/translations. The candidate will serve as the MR faculty advisor working with multi-disciplinary teams of investigators to provide consultations of developing and implementing MR imaging protocols and resolve technical problems that may arise from MR system related issues. In addition, the candidate will conduct regular QC for the scanners housed in the BRIC as well as facilitate quality control of the acquired images by different studies.
The candidate should possess strong MR physic background. Candidates with MR sequence programming experience are preferred. Although the candidate is not required but is strongly encouraged to develop her/his research projects.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements
Qualified candidates should have a doctoral degree in Biomedical Engineering or equivalent areas and are expected to have an outstanding record in developing MR imaging approaches.
Preferred Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience
Candidates should have extensive experience on sequence programming, particularly on Siemens platform. The successful candidate is expected to facilitate the operations of MR imaging services in the Biomedical Research Imaging Center and to effectively contribute to the missions of the Department of Radiology and BRIC.
