Position Summary
The Department of Neurology at the University of North Carolina seeks qualified applicants for a full-time faculty position in the area of Stroke and Vascular Neurology. The preferred candidate will be BC/BE in both Neurology and Vascular Neurology with interest in pursuing a career in academic medicine.

This individual will join the team of Vascular Neurologists overseeing acute stroke care at the UNC Medical Center. While on-service, this individual will oversee resident-staffed acute stroke teams and an inpatient stroke service, with active support from Emergency Medicine, Neurocritical Care, Neurosurgery, Neurointerventional Radiology, Vascular Surgery, and Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation. Opportunities to oversee the general neurology inpatient team are also available. Call duties include: Vascular Neurology triage services through the UNC Transfer Center and supervision of interventional stroke treatments. When not on service, faculty have ample academic time and career mentorship to pursue and develop clinical activities, program building, research, and teaching interests. Additional clinical and research support is provided by a stroke program manager, stroke nurse coordinator, an ACGME Vascular Neurology fellow, and several stroke study coordinators.

The UNC Comprehensive Stroke Center was the first Joint Commission-certified CSC in the Southeast. The Center includes dedicated Neuro- ICU, step-down, and acute inpatient beds staffed by neuro-trained nurses and allied health specialists and an affiliated inpatient rehabilitation unit.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements
Candidates must have an M.D., D.O., or equivalent.
Preferred Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience
Strong clinical/research skills and experience working with various populations of patients.
