Position Summary |
The Department of Anesthesiology at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill seeks a skilled pediatric cardiac anesthesiologist committed to patient care and resident and fellow education. Applicant must have additional training or work experience in congenital cardiac anesthesia. The
UNC Hospitals is a busy quaternary care medical center that, through the Division of Pediatric Anesthesiology, provides over 12,000 anesthetics per year to the children of North Carolina and surrounding states. North Carolina Children's Hospital has a 20 bed multidisciplinary
PICU with dedicated Pediatric Cardiac
ICU (
PCICU) capacity and medical direction. The
PICU and
PCICU admit over 12,000 patients per year and supports an active pediatric cardiothoracic surgery program as well as pediatric
ECMO (Extracorporeal Membrane Oxygenation), burn, trauma, solid organ and bone marrow transplantation programs. The Division of Pediatric Anesthesiology currently consists of 16 pediatric anesthesiologists. The division maintains a fully-accredited Pediatric Anesthesiology Fellowship program. Please note that the start date for this position is somewhat flexible. |
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements |
Requires a medical degree (MD, DO or equivalent). Must have completed an
ACGME accredited Anesthesiology Residency program (by the anticipated start date) and be
ABA certified or eligible. Candidates must be eligible for licensure in North Carolina. |
Preferred Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience |
Preference for individuals who have experience working in an academic setting, teaching graduate level learners (interns, residents, fellows), working in a team which includes CRNAs and collaborating with other services. |
