Position Summary |
The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill Center of Excellence for Eating Disorders (
UNC
CEED), established in 2003, is seeking candidates for an open-rank, tenure-track position in the Department of Psychiatry. The candidate will dedicate the majority of their time to research, specifically pursuing an active program of externally funded research (R-level or equivalent) and actively and effectively pursuing and achieving publication in appropriate scholarly venues. Additionally, the successful candidate will offer a rich training environment for PhD students and post-doctoral fellows along with training/supervision of behavioral health trainees (including clinical psychology interns and psychiatry residents). This role also includes lectures to medical students and trainees in psychology, psychiatry, pediatrics, and other specialties. They will participate in the
CEED Summer Research Fellow program, mentoring promising junior investigators in the field. Clinical responsibilities may include assessment and treatment services to children and families, in inpatient and outpatient settings.
We are seeking a candidate to contribute to the future vision and direction of
CEED, who is passionate about advancing the science of eating disorders.
CEED is world-renown for excellence in research, treatment, and training in eating disorders. Our research goals are to develop a deeper understanding of the causes of eating disorders and to create more effective diagnostic, treatment, and prevention strategies.
UNC is also the seat of the National Center of Excellence for Eating Disorders. |
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements |
- Applicants must have a Ph.D. and/or M.D. (or equivalent) in a relevant field and must be licensed to practice in NC (or be license eligible).
- Experience in both research and treatment of eating disorders is required.
- Evidence of and potential for attracting external funding at R-level or the equivalent is essential.
- Candidates must have a programmatic line of research as evidenced via scholarship and research productivity referenced on their CV.
- Prior history of teaching, supervising, or mentoring advanced trainees is required.

Applicants will be preferred who have shown potential for leadership in the field and excellent science communication skills. |
