Job Description: The Advanced Engineering Lab at Hyundai-Kia America Technical Center, Inc. (HATCI) focuses on advanced technology research and development for world-class vehicles, and currently is looking for a talented and motivated aerodynamics engineer to support vehicle aerodynamic development. This "Aerodynamics Engineer" will be mainly using CFD tools and conducting wind tunnel test to evaluate aerodynamics for vehicle development purpose as well as advanced studies. From early styling design phase to proto vehicle phase, the engineer will conduct a collaboration with a various on-/off-site departments (styling design studio, engineering design, production quality, test, and so on.) by sophisticated assessment methodologies. Responsibilities: * Build and modify vehicle CAD model with CAD software. * Conduct CFD simulation on vehicle models/wind tunnel test/on-road test to evaluate and improve the vehicle aerodynamics performance. * Analyze the results obtained from a various assessment utilizing a knowledge for aerodynamics of road vehicle and optimize to improve aerodynamics. * Collaborate with exterior designers and other engineering discipline to improve aerodynamic performance of Hyundai/Kia/Genesis vehicles. * Maintain good working condition with other teams within Hyundai Motor Group and collaborative partners. * Monitor and seek new technologies and trend in the vehicle-exterior-related field. * Develop novel flow control technology to improve aerodynamic performance. * Study of correlation between real world and wind tunnel aerodynamic characteristics of road vehicle.
Required Experience: * Mechanical/aerospace engineering degree specializing in low-speed aerodynamics. * Master/PhD degree with research topic in low-speed aerodynamics. * Fundamental understanding of low-speed aerodynamics with in-depth understanding of bluff body flow. * Familiarity with CFD, wind tunnel testing methods for aerodynamics. * Experience in CFD software, STARCCM+/PowerFLOW preferred. * Experience in CAD software, CATIA/ANSA is preferred. * Good problem solving and analysis skills. * Strong interpersonal and communication skills. * Passion for aerodynamics. Preferred Experience: * Master's degree in mechanical/aerospace engineering with 5-year experience in aerodynamics-related field, or a PhD degree with 3-year experience. * Experience in CFD analysis for external/internal aerodynamics applications. * Experience in Linux & parallel computations with HPC/cloud computing resources. * Experience in wind tunnel testing/real-world testing. * Experience in correlation between CFD analysis and wind tunnel test/on-road test. * Experience in optimization method, algorithm and software.
