VCU Tappahannock Hospital, nestled in the scenic Middle Peninsula and serving the Northern Neck region, is seeking a dedicated and skilled Occupational Therapist PRN. This position is crucial for providing high-quality care to our community, ensuring that patients receive comprehensive evaluations, treatment planning, and education.

Key Responsibilities

*Patient Evaluation and Treatment:
oConduct thorough evaluations of referred patients.
oDevelop and implement individualized treatment plans.
oProvide discharge planning, patient/family education, and recommendations for follow-up care.
*Documentation:
oAccurately document evaluation results and services provided.
oAdhere to hospital and department guidelines for documentation.
*Interdisciplinary Collaboration:
oParticipate as a member of both self-directed departmental and interdisciplinary patient care teams.
oEngage in interdisciplinary rounds and contribute to goal setting for routine diagnoses.
*Clinical Instruction and Training:
oProvide clinical instruction to OT and OTA students.
oOffer training and education to department and hospital staff.
*Supervisory Responsibilities:
oSupervise Rehab Technicians, COTA staff, volunteers, and students during clinical rotations.

Qualifications

Licensure, Certification, or Registration:

*Licensed or eligible for licensure as an Occupational Therapist in Virginia.
*CPR Certification if required by the clinic or practice area.
Experience:
*REQUIRED: New graduate to up to 2 years of work experience as an Occupational Therapist.
*PREFERRED: Prior experience in a similar healthcare facility.

Education/Training:

*REQUIRED: Graduate of an accredited School of Occupational Therapy.
*PREFERRED: Master's or Doctoral Degree from an accredited School of Occupational Therapy.

Skills and Attributes:

*Ability to evaluate and treat patients with routine diagnoses.
*Competence in setting schedules, managing time, and completing documentation.
*Effective interaction with interdisciplinary teams and self-directed work teams.
*Customer service skills for interacting with patients and families.

Licensure, Certification, or Registration Requirements for Hire:
Licensed (or licensed eligible) by the Commonwealth of Virginia as an Occupational Therapist

Licensure, Certification, or Registration Requirements for continued employment:
Completion of licensing requirements for new graduates within 1 year of graduation. Maintenance of licensure once granted.
Current CPR Certification if required by clinic or practice area

Experience REQUIRED:
New graduate to up to 2 years of work experience as an Occupational Therapist

Experience PREFERRED:
Previous affiliation or work experience at a similar facility

Education/training REQUIRED:
Graduate of an accredited School of Occupational Therapy

Education/training PREFERRED:
Masters or Doctoral Degree from an accredited School of Occupational Therapy

Independent action(s) required:
Evaluation and treatment of patients with routine diagnoses.
Setting schedule and managing time.
Reporting in interdisciplinary rounds.
Goal setting for routine diagnoses.
Completion of routine documentation.
Interaction with the interdisciplinary team and self-directed work team.
Customer interaction.

Supervisory responsibilities (if applicable):
Occupational Therapist provides supervision for Rehab Technicians, COTA staff, volunteers and students doing clinical rotations.

Additional position requirements:
Schedules and work hours will be established with your specific Manager.
Schedules, including weekends and holidays, will be required based on the unit's organizational and staffing needs.

Age Specific groups served:
As appropriate based on unit assignment.

Physical - Lifting 50-100 lbs.
