Administrative leadership responsibilities for Emergency Department Division of Toxicology to lead and support the department in providing patient care, education, service, outreach, and scholarship in toxicology at NYU Langone Health and NYC Health + Hospitals/Bellevue, in collaboration with the New York City Poison Control Center.

Qualified candidates will have experience that demonstrates excellence in patient care, education, leadership, and scholarship

Principal Responsibilities:

Under the direction, and as delegated by the Vice Chairs of Education and Operations, responsibilities include, but are not limited to:



  • Establish and meet annual toxicology goals based on the goals of the Chair, the overall department, and the mission of the institution
  • Provide direction and leadership in the development and growth of Toxicology in the Department of Emergency Medicine
  • Manage operational aspects of toxicology including staffing, quality, workflows, and intra and interdepartmental collaboration
  • Provide leadership in ensuring quality assurance standards for clinical toxicological care
  • Lead hiring and retention strategy for the Division, in collaboration with Vice Chairs and Chair
  • Submit summaries as requested to the Vice Chair of Education highlighting divisional achievements
  • Grow toxicology service offerings and review opportunities for revenue growth in emergency department, inpatient virtual, and ambulatory toxicological services
  • Ensure staffing for toxicology telemedicine appointments in collaboration with Chief of Telemedicine
  • Provide supervision, mentoring, and evaluation of toxicology faculty
  • Provide oversight to toxicology fellowship
  • Provide leadership, coordination, and maintenance of division educational mission, including but not limited to undergraduate, graduate, faculty, and continuing professional medical toxicology education
  • Institutional service in matters related to toxicology and pharmacology in collaboration with the Vice Chairs and Chair
  • Provide mentorship and educational opportunities for residents and medical students
  • Support scholarship, research, and publication efforts in the specialty of toxicology
  • Division budget management, oversight, and execution
  • Collaborate with the New York City Poison Control Center to maintain, support, and potentially expand departmental opportunities in patient care, education, service, outreach, and scholarship


Salary Range: $260k-$280k

The salary range listed is for full-time employment and does not include incentive compensation or benefits. Actual salary may not fall within the listed salary range; consideration will be made for experience, training, hospital/community need, and other factors.




  • Degree in medicine (allopathic or osteopathic) or equivalent
  • Successful completion of an Emergency Medicine Residency or Pediatric Emergency Medicine Fellowship Training Program
  • Successful completion of Fellowship in Medical Toxicology
  • Board Certification in Emergency Medicine or Pediatric Emergency Medicine
  • Board Certification in Medical Toxicology
  • A minimum of 8 years of experience in the active practice of clinical toxicology
  • Acquisition of a New York State medical license within three months of job hire
  • US Drug Enforcement Administration Controlled Substance Registration Certificate
