The Cardiology Invasive Technologist performs a wide range of technical skills which are utilized during cardiac and vascular procedures performed in the cardiac catheterization laboratory and the electrophysiology laboratory. The cardiovascular technologist is responsible for operating highly technical equipment and products under the direct supervision of a qualified licensed independent practitioner (LIP). The Technologist is proficient in all aspects of angiography, patient preparation, assessment, documentation and monitoring consistent with all policies, procedures and processes to ensure safe, efficient, and comfortable exams for all patients. Licensure, Certification, or Registration Requirements for Hire: Current Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist (RCIS) or Registered Cardiac Electrophysiology Specialist (RCES) certification by Cardiovascular Credentialing International or eligible to complete RCIS/RCES certification within 6 months from date of hire Basic Life Support (BLS for Healthcare Providers) Licensure, Certification, or Registration Requirements for continued employment: Current RCIS or RCES certification Basic Life Support (BLS for Healthcare Providers) Experience REQUIRED: Previous experience as required by Cardiovascular Credentialing International Experience PREFERRED: One (1) year of previous invasive cardiology experience PALS and ACLS certification Education/training REQUIRED: Graduation from programmatically accredited program in invasive cardiovascular technology or electrophysiology or education, training and/or experience that satisfies the eligibility requirement for the Cardiovascular Credentialing International certification of RCIS or RCES Education/training PREFERRED: N/A Independent action(s) required: Able to perform in the scrub and monitor roles during diagnostic and interventional procedures performed in the cardiac catheterization or electrophysiology lab. Supervisory responsibilities (if applicable): N/A Additional position requirements: Individual shift rotation and schedules will be established with your specific manager or supervisor. Schedules, including requirements of shift rotations and hours of work may be adjusted as necessary to meet staffing needs of the health system. On-call, weekend and other after-hours coverage required based on workload demand and staffing needs of the health system. Cardiovascular Technologists are considered "Essential Employees" who may be required to report to work in accordance with the VCUHS Policy.
