JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

The Ross and Carol Nese College of Nursing is looking for a Part-time Research Assistant (RA) for a National Institutes of Health (NIH) Study on Delirium in Hospitalized Older Adults.

We are hiring part-time research assistants (RAs) for a research project titled, "READI-SET-GO: Researching Efficient Approaches to Delirium Identification-Sustaining Effective Translation to Create Gero-friendly Organizations".This implementation study is investigating use of a twice daily nurse-led 2-step delirium identification screening. The project is being implemented in three communities in PA and MA but the funding is based at University Park, PA with the need for some RAs to travel to Hershey for data collection or be located in Hershey. We are hiring staff for in-person data collection at Mount Nittany Medical Center and Hershey Medical Center/Penn State Health in PA; most training and meetings will be virtual.Approximately 10-20 hours per week.

Job Duties Job duties include but are not limited to:
  • Assist with in person recruiting, consenting, and screening research participants, clinical research procedures, and medical record reviews.

  • Conduct inter-rater reliability checks.

  • Assist with data entry, data management, and maintaining data protection & quality.

  • May assist with literature search and other research work assigned.

  • Attend and contribute to scheduled team meetings.

  • Assist with marketing and communication where needed.

  • Other duties as needed to carry out study procedures.

Requirements and Qualifications
  • Must have completed the COVID-19 vaccination and others as required by clinical research sites (this may vary be site) at least 2 weeks prior to employment and/or as required.
  • Must be a team player who is able to work with faculty and all research team members, but also able to work independently to meet project deadlines.
  • Strong professional and interpersonal communication skills required, both written and verbal.
  • Preference may be given to individuals specializing in healthcare or related fields who have experience working with older adults with cognitive impairment or delirium.
