Associate Director, School of Physical Therapy- Houston

Texas Woman's University (TWU) is seeking a dynamic Associate Director for its highly ranked School of Physical Therapy- Houston campus. With programs on the Dallas and Houston campuses, the School of Physical Therapy offers DPT and PhD programs, as well as residency programs in neurology and women's health, and recently completed its DPT re-accreditation. The Associate Director advises and assists the Director in planning and implementing the goals for the School. The Associate Director- Houston is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the School on the Houston campus. The Associate Director assumes the duties of the Director in the absence of the Director. This is a 12-month, full-time position.

Specific Responsibilities:



  • Advises and assists the Director in carrying out School initiatives
  • Recommends new faculty/staff appointments
  • Contributes to the School through teaching, research, and service activities
  • Assigns faculty workload according to university policy
  • Supervises staff (SLL coordinators, office staff)
  • Creates campus-specific goals
  • Assigns administrative tasks to faculty, as needed
  • Conducts campus faculty meetings
  • Prepares campus-specific reports
  • Maintains campus-specific equipment and supplies
  • Conducts faculty and staff performance reviews and submits to Director for input
  • Follows University and School policies for student enrollment, tracking student progress, student appeals, and program completion
  • Orients new faculty, staff, and students to the campus and the School
  • Promotes faculty development and scholarship activity
  • Maintains budgetary oversight/approval authority of all campus-related budgets
  • Conducting periodic class meetings with each group of entry-level students to advise them of events and procedures pertinent to their academic program.



Minimum Qualifications:



  • Demonstrated academic leadership and collaboration skills
  • An earned research doctorate and the ability to be tenured at the Associate or Full Professor rank
  • Eligible for Texas licensure in Physical Therapy
  • Member of APTA



Preferred Qualifications:



  • Demonstrated record of

    • Mentoring of PhD students
    • Experience with CAPTE accreditation or program/curricular development
    • Grant writing experience



TWU's Houston Center is a state-of-the-art, 10-story, 202,000 square-foot "campus in one building." It was built in 2006 and houses the School of Physical Therapy, right in the heart of the Texas Medical Center. TWU is currently the only PT program located in Houston.
