Additional Job Description: Director Heart Failure, Transplant, and Ventricular Assist Device (VAD) Program-WVU Medicine Children's, Children's Heart Center West Virginia University School of Medicine and the Department of Pediatrics seek a Pediatric Cardiologist qualified for appointment at the Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, or Professor rank. The successful candidate will be expected to practice in Morgantown, West Virginia. The successful candidate will join our growing Division of Pediatric Cardiology and will support our patient population on the Children's Hospital campus and throughout the state through our robust pediatric cardiology outreach program that includes outreach clinics with diagnostic testing. We currently have specialists in the areas of fetal cardiology, general pediatric cardiology, advanced imaging, interventional catheterization, noninvasive and invasive electrophysiology, adult congenital heart disease, and preventative cardiology. Our pediatric cardiology program is supported by a dedicated cardiac intensive care unit staffed with healthcare professionals specifically trained in managing complex cardiac conditions. Duties: The successful candidate will oversee and supervise the Heart Failure, Transplant, and VAD program. The duties assigned will be complemented and supported by an advanced practice professional. In addition to providing excellent patient care, the successful candidate will also be actively involved in teaching medical students, residents, and fellows. Qualifications: Candidate must have an MD or DO degree or foreign equivalent and be eligible for state medical license. Successful candidate must have completed a Pediatric residency program, as well as a Pediatric Cardiology fellowship program. Ideal candidates would have additional formal training in pediatric heart failure/transplant or extensive experience in areas of VAD and pediatric cardiac transplant. Successful candidates must be board certified / eligible in Pediatric Cardiology. All qualifications must be met by the time of appointment. WVU Medicine Children's Hospital is a tertiary care center for the state of West Virginia, Western Maryland, Southwestern Pennsylvania, as well as Southeastern Ohio. We have West Virginia's only cardiothoracic surgery program and offer surgical interventions for the full range of congenital heart defects, including complex single ventricle neonates through adults with congenital heart disease. We have a robust ECMO program with dedicated pediatric perfusionists to support cardiac and non-cardiac diseases. Our new 150 bed Children's Hospital includes dedicated cardiac operating rooms, a hybrid cardiac EP and interventional catheterization lab, and dedicated pediatric cardiac anesthesia staff. The hospital includes 34 pediatric beds, the only level 4 NICU in the state, a dedicated Cancer Institute, a Pediatric Emergency Department with Rapid Care, and dedicated PICU and CICU services. WVU Medicine Children's is a Level 2 Pediatric Trauma Center, with plans to become Level 1, as it is for adults currently. The Birthing Center houses a 30-bed obstetrical unit and the maternal-fetal medicine clinic. WVU Medicine Children's Hospital is the only hospital in West Virginia with a pediatric cardiac surgery program, the only epilepsy monitoring unit in the state equipped to serve children, and the only hospital in the state to receive Magnet status for nursing excellence.
