JOB DESCRIPTION

Under direct supervision, the CNC Machine Operator / Tool Crib Attendant is responsible for running tools to the shop floor, is familiar with tool logs, broken tools, and insert logs. They also demonstrate basic skills relating to inventory control, basic shop math including cutting tool geometry, and measuring tools such as micrometers, calipers, etc., and validating tool specifications based on correctly interpreting tool lists. This position is expected to operate CNC machine as necessary. In addition, they will also demonstrate basic computer skills and the ability to work with digital logs, tool lists and reports as needed.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

-Basic Understanding of machining principles and equipment

-Basic familiarity of common machine tools

-Responsible and able to Load /Operate machines used in production processes.

-Inspect/check own machining work and product against specified open tolerances to sketch(s)/drawings, using precision tools.

* Provides input to management regarding problems such as shortages, design changes, backlogs, and the like.

* Utilize ERP system, CribMaster and Microsoft office programs to maintain system databases and plan, replenish and order tooling and products, while maintaining all parameters.

* Develop and maintain a database of tooling/fixture storage locations.

* Responsible for ensuring that cutting tool, fixtures and set up books are created, utilized, and returned to crib for proper storage and that special tools are stored with appropriate tooling.

* Responsible for making sure that all jobs received are kitted in a timely manner and do not delay production jobs.

* Inspect for worn tools and replace as necessary.

* Implement and sustain tool accountability/control systems.

* Responsible for the cleanliness of all hardware and ensuring that it is in "ready to use" condition.

* Determines and maintains the appropriate inventory level of all tools and hardware.

* Establish and implement set-up sheets ensuring that the proper tools and equipment are in inventory at the time of need.

* Be able to recommend and provide the correct cutting tools for the different material being machined.

* Ensures equipment and tools are checked-in and out of tool crib and maintains an accurate record system.

* Ensure tool crib functionality and performance meets company standards.

* Required to pull/kit and preset jobs when necessary.

* Produces machined parts by operating a computer numerical control (CNC) machine; maintaining quality and safety standards; keeping records; maintaining equipment and supplies.

* Monitor tool wear, adjust offsets, and replace inserts when necessary, ensuring correct operation of the machine.

* Demonstrated extensive knowledge of mill and lathe tooling and preset methodologies.

* Previous experience using precision tools such as micrometers and calipers.

* Knowledge of cutting tools and MRO supplies

* Other duties may be assigned.

* CNC machine operation, understanding of CNC machine set up, tool identification and machine fixtures.

* Able to understand existing CNC programs.
