JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS: The Penn State metallobiochemistry group, including Profs. Squire Booker, J. Martin Bollinger, Jr., Carsten Krebs, Amie Boal, Joey Cotruvo, and Alexey Silakov, seeks a Postdoctoral Scholar to work on iron-sulfur proteins of relevance to RNA virus replication and catalysis. The qualified applicant will have expertise in synthetic chemistry as well as preparation and electrochemistry of iron-sulfur proteins. Interest in learning physical methods of important to bioinorganic chemistry is essential. Education: The applicant must have recently received, or be scheduled to receive, a Ph.D. in an area broadly relevant to our research program by the time employment starts, such as a Ph.D. in Biophysics, Biochemistry, Chemistry, or Physics. Duties will include laboratory experimentation, involving recombinant DNA manipulations, bacterial cell growth and protein expression, protein purification, electrochemical experiments, preparation of samples for spectroscopy, collection and analysis of spectra, kinetics experiments, general data analysis, manuscript preparation, presentations in meetings, and responsibilities related to laboratory maintenance. Following a screening of these initial application materials, appropriate candidates will be contacted by email for letters of reference. This is a limited-term appointment funded for one year from the date of hire with a possibility of re-funding. Review of applicants will begin immediately and continue until the position is filled.
