JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS: JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS: The Marcus Department of Industrial and Manufacturing Engineering at the Pennsylvania State University is seeking applications for a Postdoctoral Scholar to work under the supervision of Dr. Vittal Prabhu, Professor & Charles and Enid Schneider Faculty Chair in Service Enterprise Engineering. The scope of work includes mathematical modeling of service systems, and developing and applying advanced data analytics for exploration, visualization, descriptive analytics, prescriptive analytics, and implement these in user-friendly software. Service systems modeling would include developing optimization formulations for resource allocation, demand forecasting, and parameter estimation based on available data. Additionally, scope will include assisting designing and developing online short courses for practitioners and students that cover the concepts and use the software applications. Applicants must have earned a Ph. D degree in Industrial Engineering, or a closely related field. Candidates must be proficient in mathematical modeling and service systems. The postdoctoral scholar will be expected to present research outcomes at conferences and publish papers in peer-reviewed proceedings and journals. Candidate should have excellent interpersonal skills and be willing to work with faculty, students, and managers. This is a term appointment, funded for one year from date of hire, with an excellent possibility of renewal.
