JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS: The Heart and Vascular Institute, in the Penn State College of Medicine, in Hershey, PA, invites applications for a tenure-track/tenured faculty position at the Associate/Full Professor level. The successful candidate will have a nationally recognized clinical or basic science research program with a strong track-record of extramural funding and publications focusing on the diagnosis, pathophysiology, or treatment of cardiovascular diseases. The selected candidate will be expected to contribute to the University's shared values to promote diversity and maintain the highest level of commitment to research, education and mentoring of undergraduate, graduate, and medical students, residents, clinical fellows, and post-doctoral fellows. Candidates who are a board-certified physician-scientist will be expected to effectively contribute to the clinical mission of the HVI, and appropriate clinical responsibilities will be discussed during the interview process. Physician-scientists may also be asked to serve as a teaching attending to strengthen our clinical programs and provide training and research opportunities for medical learners, ideally complementing the successful candidate's research interest. Required: Applicants should have an M.D., Ph.D., M.D./Ph.D., or equivalent degree. A degree relevant to the study of cardiovascular diseases and appropriate postdoctoral and/or clinical training are needed to succeed in this position. Strong evidence of a successful research program in cardiovascular research; and commitment to teaching and mentoring students and fellows from diverse backgrounds are essential.
