What this job involves: The Analytical Equipment (Metrology) Engineer position involves a range of responsibilities within a GLP/GMP environment. The engineer is responsible for preparing detailed documentation related to maintenance, calibration, and qualifications while following SOPs and industry standards. They play a key role in driving the improvement of departmental procedures and may also be involved in new instrument processes, vendor management, and audits. Additionally, the engineer may be required to travel, work overtime, and assist with troubleshooting and calibration tasks.

What your day-to-day will look like:
Prepares detailed and accurate documentation of maintenance/calibration/qualifications and works within the guidelines of Client's SOPs and industry standards for compliance.
Keeps Supervisor and, where required, Director informed of needs and priorities within the group to ensure successful outcomes and completion of tasks.
Conducts Peer review of analytical instrument calibrations/qualifications.
Drives the improvement of departmental procedures and other associated documentation by writing and revising SOPs.
Reviews VCBs daily and records raw data for KPIs/metrics
Involved in new instrument process, vendor management process, database management and audits.
May calibrate instruments or assist junior Metrologists with troubleshooting.
May serve as backup in the event Metrology experiences a lapse of coverage.
May be required to work overtime.
May be requested to travel for services, parts, etc.
Any and all other duties assigned.

Physical Job Requirements:
Individual may be required to sit, stand, walk regularly and occasionally lift up to 40 pounds.
Specific vision requirements including reading of written documents and the use of computer monitor screen frequently.

Ability to work at heights exceeding 6 feet.
May be required to fulfill requirements of motorized vehicle operation (vision, hearing, physical limitations) or use of a respirator.
May be required to support the instrument shipping and receiving needs for the group, which could require packing, boxing, labeling, and transporting packages of instruments for shipment from one of Client's Shipping and Receiving facilities.

Work Schedule: The working hours for this position are Monday to Friday from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM.

Desired or preferred experience and technical skills:

Experience - 4+ years' experience within a GLP/GMP Environment, laboratory experience.

Required Skills and Experience:
ASS/BS/MA in Chemistry or other related sciences
Must be familiar with basic GLP/GMP policies and guidelines and understand how their role impacts compliance.
Must have a strong knowledge of Metrology principles gained through hands on experience and a demonstrated ability to perform calibration tasks.
Good understanding of analytical instrumentation including chromatographic systems, spectrophotometers
Excellent troubleshooting and problem resolution skills.
Good leadership skills and ability to provide assistance to others with a broad range of needs.
Excellent computer skills and diversity of software experience such as Documentum; TrackWise; CalMan; Crystal Reports; Intranet experience; and many
Experience in computerized maintenance management system (CMMS), quality management system (QMS), continuous improvement/process improvement.
Should be recognized as a technical resource of defined scope for routine issues.
Must be able to work effectively with any laboratory team in a customer service capacity.
